Jared Hughes saw Betsy Russell coming over, coughed, and said, "These were accidents."
Betsy didn't expose him, saying: "You don't have to come here to cook for me anymore; you can just work with Natalie."
Betsy's phone suddenly rang, and without waiting for Jared to speak, she picked up the phone and walked aside. Seeing the caller ID showing "Slevin Russell," her heart involuntarily rose.
Betsy returned to her room, took a deep breath, and answered the phone.
"Hello, Dad?"
"Betsy, what have you been busy with lately? Am I bothering you?"
Slevin Russell sat on the couch with his cell phone on speaker mode while Evelyn Campbell sat nervously beside him.
The two of them had no expectations for Betsy, only hoping that she could live carefree for the rest of her life.
