Betsy Russell wasn't usually bothered, and she didn't have the habit of eavesdropping, but the repeated mention of "Jared Hughes" piqued her curiosity.
She leaned gently back onto the booth seats and listened closely to the conversation behind her.
"Bing, wait a minute... are you saying that Jared Hughes is also your brother?"
"I don't have that kind of brother. I only have Carl Eliot as a brother. Besides, he and his mother are both shameless. His mother was driven out by the Eliot family, so you don't think that just because he's achieved something, he's amazing, do you?"
"In my life, I'll never accept an illegitimate child as my brother!"
"Bing, don't be mad, I didn't mean that, I just wanted to ask if Jared Hughes is really a part of the Eliot family?"
"At any rate, no one in our family acknowledges him. What he's doing out there has nothing to do with us!"
"It seems like he's now the president of MK. Does your grandfather really have no other intentions?"
