When they arrived home, Jared Hughes stopped the car, only to find that Betsy Russell in the passenger seat had already fallen asleep.
She had both hands wrapped around the bottle of honey water he had given her earlier, resting it on her thighs. Her head was tilted slightly against the window, sleeping soundly.
After parking the car, Hughes took the bottle of honey water from her hands and carefully placed it in the back seat.
Then he got out of the car, walked around to the other side, and gently lifted Betsy out of the car.
Since he was holding Betsy, it wasn't convenient to close the car door, so he had to lean over and hit the door with his elbow.
The sound of the door closing was quite loud.
Hughes worried that the noise would wake Betsy; however, seeing her still fast asleep, he couldn't help but smile.
It seemed that she was really tired; not even that noise could wake her.
As she slept, Betsy's head leaned closer to his chest and deepened her sleep.
