Betsy Russell reluctantly spoke up: "Dad, Mom, this is Jared Hughes!"
Jared's heart raced involuntarily at Betsy's introduction. As he looked at Slevin Russell and Evelyn Campbell, who were both his former and future in-laws, his palms grew sweaty with nervousness. He stood up, walked over and dragged over a large suitcase, "Mr. Russell and Mrs. Russell, I'm Jared Hughes. This is my token of respect for our first proper meeting. I hope you won't mind if the etiquette isn't perfect!"
Evelyn Campbell found Jared particularly pleasing now and was always fond of receiving gifts. Smiling, she said, "Jared, you're too kind. You didn't need to bring so many gifts for your first visit!"
Moving to the suitcase, Evelyn prepared to open it.
Always doting on Evelyn, Slevin was worried that she might struggle opening the suitcase and squatted down to help.
As the suitcase was opened, both Slevin and Evelyn were stunned.
