Jared Hughes was good at admitting his mistakes.
Last night, he went looking for Thad Drew with injuries on his body. Knowing full well he couldn't avoid this and worrying it would cause trouble for Betsy Russell, he started playing the "wounded prey" card early in the morning.
When Betsy finished cleaning up and came out, she saw Jared standing by the dining table, preparing something. As she approached, she saw porridge and fried dough sticks.
It seemed that Jared had ordered breakfast delivery before coming over.
Betsy sat opposite Jared and ate with her head down. After she finished, she looked up and asked, "I wonder if there is anything else Mr. Hughes is keeping from me?"
Seeing Jared straighten up, Betsy realized that he had indeed hidden quite a few things from her, "If you're honest about it, I'll choose to forgive you."
Jared looked at Betsy, thought for a moment, and said, "There's too much in the past, I'm not sure what you're referring to, my dear."
