Natalie glanced at Jared and then at Betsy. She seemed to guess something and raised the corner of her lips slightly.
Betsy whispered into Natalie's ear, audible only to the two of them, "Check the contract carefully to see if there's anything wrong, and make sure Jared isn't setting us up!"
Betsy didn't believe in free handouts, and she didn't think of Jared as a good person.
Upon hearing Betsy, Natalie couldn't help but smile. She spoke quietly, "Miss Russell, don't worry, I will check it carefully and have the lawyer take a close look."
Betsy nodded with satisfaction, trusting Natalie to handle the situation.
Jared watched as Betsy cautiously looked at the contract, somehow reminded of the day she had run away from home, looking at him with the same guarded expression.
