Betsy Russell walked calmly toward Jared Hughes, but before she could reach him, she saw him walking toward her.
Before Betsy could speak, Jared quickly explained, "She was just asking me for my phone number."
Betsy was slightly taken aback, her gaze swept across Jared's face, her lips pursed slightly, and she continued, "We're not in a relationship anymore, your personal matters have nothing to do with me."
Jared stared at Betsy intently, his head lowered, not saying anything.
At that moment, Betsy's cell phone suddenly rang. She opened it and saw a text from an unfamiliar number.
"Hello, I'm the girl who just asked you for your phone number."
Betsy glanced at Jared, her eyes shifted, and she replied with a message, "Sorry, I'm into men."
After sending it, Betsy put her phone back in her bag.
