Unaware, Betsy Russell had already slid to the intermediate slope, which was less crowded than the beginner's slope, allowing her to play more freely.
In the crowd, Jared Hughes was searching everywhere for Betsy. When he found her, he saw her stop and stand aside.
Jared quickly skied over and looked at Betsy with some worry, his eyebrows furrowed as he asked, "Did you fall?"
Seeing Jared coming over, Betsy shook her head gently and said, "Nothing, I was just waiting for you."
Her nonchalant comment made Jared's heart skip a beat, as he stared at her, wishing time could freeze at this moment.
"I will always be able to keep up with you," Jared said lightly, his eyes softening.
Betsy, of course, didn't think much of it and curiously asked, "How did you know I was on the intermediate slope?"
"Guess?"
"I don't feel like guessing." Betsy cleared her mind and continued to slide away.
