Bill Treiber left Betsy's apartment, standing outside, he looked up at the windows of her apartment and sighed, feeling helpless, before he got in his car and drove back to Jared's apartment.
It was unclear when Jared had gotten up, but he was dressed in his pajamas and reclining on the couch with a pale face.
Placing the food he had brought on the table, Bill dared not mention his visit to Betsy and instead advised, "Mr. Hughes, have some food. Take an antipyretic. You'll soon recover."
