Jared Hughes was silent for a moment before finally saying, "I'm hurt."
Betsy Russell was slightly taken aback and found Jared amusing. "If you're hurt, go see a doctor. I'm not a doctor, it's no use telling me."
After saying that, Betsy ignored Jared, stepping past him and walking in.
However, she had only taken a few steps when her arm was jerked to a stop.
Turning back, she saw Jared holding her arm tightly, his slightly injured eyes meeting hers.
"Are you really that heartless? You don't care about me at all?" A glimmer of pleading in Jared's eyes flashed past.
As Betsy looked at Jared, she was reminded of her time with the Hughes family, how she wanted Jared's concern then.
How could she have left Jared and the Hughes family if her heart wasn't dead?
The tables had truly turned, now it was Jared's turn to suffer.
"Heartless?" Betsy looked at Jared amusedly, effortlessly shaking off his hand. "Jared Hughes, who's heartless - me or you?"
