Betsy Russell followed Thad Drew into the banquet, aware of the glances from the people around and also heard their whispers.
Thad drew close, whispering in her ear, "They all think we make an excellent pair."
Betsy looked straight ahead, not bothering to indulge Thad with a response.
Thad led Betsy towards Roger Campbell, who was the star of the banquet.
"Mr. Campbell, long time no see."
"Mr. Campbell, how have you been?"
Both Thad and Betsy greeted Roger.
Roger, who was close with Jared Hughes, saw Thad and Betsy's interlocked hands and his smile became rigid.
"Mr. Drew." Roger greeted Thad and turned his gaze on Betsy, "Miss Russell, long time no see."
There had been rumors on Twitter about Thad and Betsy being together. Roger had initially thought they were just that, rumors. He knew Jared liked Betsy and selfishly hoped she could be with Jared.
Although there was a smile on Roger's face, he couldn't help but sigh inwardly.
