"I knew you knew nothing!" Sir Hughes couldn't hold back his temper, "Yesterday, I called Slevin Russell, who seemed uninterested at first, but today he has agreed and even said he'd like to see the Hughes family's sincerity."
"I think Slevin wants to see the wedding, yet why do you still act like it's none of your business?" Sir Hughes became more and more agitated, wishing he could hold a knife to Jared Hughes's neck, "It's your wedding, and your father-in-law has spoken up, but you remain indifferent. Don't you want to marry Betsy Russell?"
Jared originally wanted Bill Treiber to handle this matter because he knew that this wedding was likely Betsy's revenge against the Hughes family.
However, Sir Hughes's words made Jared hesitate. Did Betsy really want to marry him, having gone back to speak with Slevin about this?
How is that possible?
Betsy had never said that she wanted to marry him; everything she said implied revenge.
