Betsy Russell came to her senses and looked at Thad Drew with a smile, "Thank you."
Thad stood where he was, a hint of hesitation flashing across his face as he asked, "Can I ask you a question?"
Betsy's smile faded slightly as she thought about Thad helping her, and it wouldn't be right to dismiss him directly. She pursed her lips and nodded with a smile.
"What do you like about Jared Hughes?" Thad asked, staring intently at Betsy.
He couldn't figure out why he was inferior to Jared.
Jared was naturally cold and indifferent, showing no interest in anything.
There were perhaps naïve young girls who thought such a man was cool and fancied themselves as the only ones who could win his heart, recklessly rushing towards Jared like moths to a flame.
But Betsy Russell was not that kind of girl.
Betsy was smart, decisive, and determined; she didn't seem like the kind of girl who indulged in fantasy.
