Betsy Russell took a deep breath, enjoying the fresh air outside, which seemed to clear her head a little.
"Let's take my car," Betsy said as she pulled out her car keys.
Jared Hughes extended his right hand and calmly looked at Betsy.
Looking at Jared's slender, long fingers, Betsy felt as if she had been transported back in time. Hesitating, she withdrew her keys.
"Take your car," Betsy said quietly as she put her keys away, her eyes dimming.
"Alright," Jared didn't object.
Betsy got into Jared's car and sat in the passenger seat.
Even though she had been married to Jared for many years, the number of times she had sat in his passenger seat could be counted on one hand. Now that she thought about it, she and Jared were practically strangers.
As they drove for a while, Betsy's head began to feel heavy again, and her face warmed up.
Turning her head to look at Jared, she asked, "Can you open the window?"
