"It's okay, I can go up by myself. It's getting late, you can go back and rest earlier." Betsy Russell felt slightly uneasy under Thad Drew's tender gaze, so she lowered her eyes, focusing inward.
She honestly didn't want Thad to waste his time on her.
Thad seemed to be completely unaware of Betsy's desire to distance herself, so he smiled gently and said, "All right."
As Betsy looked up, she accidentally met Thad's affectionate eyes. She turned her head away and said, "Goodnight."
"Goodnight," Thad whispered and handed the flowers to her.
With a heavy head, Betsy walked to the door of her apartment and hesitated for a moment. She then turned back to look at Thad.
He was still standing there, with the street light shining on his face. His charming eyes were filled with a smile, making it hard for anyone not to be drawn in.
Seeing her look back, Thad waved at Betsy.
Feeling guilty, Betsy lowered her gaze, her heart filled with mixed emotions.
