"Miss Scott is right, we are friends."
Addressing Heather, Thad glanced over at Betsy before saying, "As friends, there's no need for such formality. Gather your things, and I'll take them downstairs first."
After saying this, Thad stepped outside, dragging their suitcases with him.
All couples start out as friends.
Watching Thad's retreating back, Heather nudged Betsy and playfully said, "Don't you think Thad is better than Jared Hughes?"
Betsy rolled her eyes silently, giving Heather a helpless look as she said, "We shouldn't have let him drive us home."
Heather and Betsy had grown up together. Observing Betsy's reaction, Heather's smile faltered momentarily. Seeing Betsy move towards the door, she hurriedly followed.
"Betsy," Heather said, moving next to her with a serious look on her face, "Are you really not interested in dating?"
Heather asked this, her eyes firmly locked onto Betsy's.
