"Isa."
When Isa Hughes heard Jared Hughes's voice, she was startled and sat up abruptly, moving too broadly and inadvertently pulling at the wounds on her body. Pain wrinkled her face, but she dared not make a sound.
"J...Jared," Isa timidly replied, lowering her head and not daring to look at him.
"I've seen Betsy Russell. She demands a public apology from you," Jared said emotionlessly, lifting his foot ready to leave.
"Jared, didn't you plead my case?" Isa eagerly asked. She was Jared's sister and she knew he still favored her in his heart.
Jared hesitated, thinking of Betsy Russell being forced to apologize in the Hughes family, he was annoyed at heart, but he couldn't show it on his face.
"Isa is right, Jared, you didn't apologize for your sister?" Sir Hughes walked in from outside, coldly inquiring.
Jared turned around and calmly said, "She didn't accept."
