Liam caressed her cheek. "Don't say it like that, Irys."
Irys shook her head. "I am selfish, Liam."
"I've seen what it did to my mother, and I don't want to face it too."
"Even if we have kids, I will do the same. I will teach them until they can survive on their own, and then come after you."
Her words turned the room silent.
Liam looked at her, seeing only sincerity in her eyes; she was determined.
