Katherine nodded, her eyes fixed on him. "I love you, James. Tell Liam how sorry I am for all of this and that I love him very much."
James responded softly, "He knows, Katherine."
He then took out a crystal pendant and placed it in her hand, the one holding Liam's.
He started to channel his energy into the runic formation as Katherine's blood pooled on the floor.
The formation came to life; Katherine's body began to fade, transforming into particles of light.
These particles then condensed into a stream of energy that flowed into the pendant, filling it until there was nothing left in the room but her blood-stained clothes.
James moved closer and embraced the blood-stained clothes tightly against his chest.
A guttural scream emanating from the depths of his soul filled the room. It was a sound of raw pain and anguish.
