Liam recounted everything to Lex, who listened intently.
With each detail Liam provided, Lex's expression grew colder, his eyes narrowing. "I see."
"Don't worry about school for now. I'll handle it. Just focus on your studies at home."
Liam nodded, his gaze distant and lifeless as he stared ahead.
Then, he asked softly, "What about you, Uncle? Everyone hates us now. Why are you still here?"
Lex let out a hearty laugh. "Don't worry about me, Liam. I'll never leave you or your mother."
"This old man owes everything to your father."
Liam's voice quivered as he asked, "Dad... Where is he?"
Lex tried to reassure him. "Don't worry."
"Once he hears about what's happened, he'll come home quickly and sort everything out."
"It's been years, Uncle... Is he even still alive?" Liam asked.
Lex glanced at Liam through the rearview mirror, his gaze steady. "He is alive, Liam. I'm sure of it."
