Liam fixed his gaze on Leona. "But what you're doing is just delaying the inevitable."
"Since it can't be avoided, wouldn't it be better to push it forward and handle it on our own terms?"
With a hint of resignation, Leona replied, "Well, there's no use debating this now. It's already happening."
After a brief pause, Liam added, "Tell both of them, if they agree, you can send her daughter to me. I'll take care of her."
Leona looked at him, surprised. "Are you sure? You know there are many others like her."
Liam let out a sigh. "I'm no saint, but I can at least help those I come across."
Leona nodded, "That's a good approach. I'll try to persuade her mother."
Curious, Liam asked, "How much time does her mother have left?"
Leona replied, "About three months, give or take. Her body is gradually turning into bark, including her internal organs.
"In two months, she won't be able to move at all."
