Liam's gaze was unwavering, his voice stern. "You think you are not confronting them now?"
Berto's expression hardened slightly. "But that's because of your actions."
"Then you should understand that you don't have a choice in this," Liam retorted, his tone leaving little room for argument.
"Carry out the plan after I settle the issue with your brother."
Berto paused for a moment. With a heavy sigh, he said. "If you come across my fiancée... don't kill her."
Surprise flickered across Liam's features. "What, planning to take care of her yourself?"
Berto shook his head, his expression one of inner conflict. "It's not like that. I've been thinking... she's not really to blame for all this mess. It's complicated. If you do meet her, just... let her go."
