The male doctor, around fifty years old, had been called in temporarily. He took off his face mask, glanced at Yvonne Young, and spoke gravely, "The child's condition is stable now, but the transplant surgery should be done as soon as possible. Each day we wait adds more risk."
Yvonne had heard the same thing from doctors abroad many times. As she lowered her eyes in a helpless expression, the doctor understood that finding a suitable bone marrow donor wasn't easy.
