Chapter 2 - Ch. 2 Gone Before It Began

After the god snapped their fingers I was instantly in a dark and cramped space that was weirdly hot. I tried moving around only to discover that I was in some kind of fluid that wrapped around me all over. Thinking about it for a moment I realized I was in my mother's womb, which meant that the rebirth had really happened and I would be in the world of My Hero Academia soon.

Trying to move my arms and legs up and down in celebration amounted to next to nothing so I just floated still for a moment and thought, 'I wonder how long I'm going to be in here for? I hope it's not the whole nine months, I have no idea what I would do if I was stuck with nothing to do for that long."

I hoped my complaining would cause some kind of cosmic intervention where I was unexpectedly already ready to be born because I was a reincarnate but nothing happened. So with nothing to do for who knows how long I began to think, about my old life and all the things it didn't hold.

I was born an orphan, but that wasn't anything bad, not really anyway. Sure it was kind of sad knowing that I had no family out there waiting to claim me one day, but the family I made would always be more than enough for me. When I was about one I was adopted from the orphanage into a family full of other adoptees because the couple there was old and wanted to help young kids without families gain a better future. And life there was really good, great even, until I got sick with something that no one had ever seen before. After I was diagnosed I had to go live in the hospital, so they could try and figure out what it was I had. Fast forward a few years, I'm now sixteen almost seventeen and they've started calling the thing I was sick with Pre-pubescent Ossisinteritus which when explained to me they said was a rapid deterioration of all the bones in my body. I guess that's why they didn't let me keep the memory of dying, it must have been so much more painful than it already was while I was still living.

The only thing that ever distracted me from the pain was watching shows and reading as much fiction as possible. This is why I have very high hopes for this new world, even if the god made it seem like things would be different than what I remembered, it shouldn't be too different I'm sure.

—----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm not sure how long I've been here in this slightly too hot, bubble of peace but it must have been a significant amount of time because I can move my limbs around somewhat and it's a lot more cramped in here. I think I'm gonna be born soon and it's so exciting. I'll finally be able to live a somewhat normal life, just with superpowers and megalomaniacs to fight but who doesn't love a good fight against a big bad? I sure loved seeing them happen in comics and on TV. How much could that differ from real life?

—------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm being squeezed from all sides and pushed down a passage that seems to extend forever without end. Finally, I'm being born after so long, not that I was conscious many times since meeting the god that reincarnated me. I was likely awake only four times while floating in the darkness and gradually getting bigger, waiting for this moment to finally arrive. The moment when I would be squeezed painfully out of a fleshy tube into rough hands, dry humid air, and blasted with a cacophony of sounds.

The hands that held me were not only rough but also thin, so thin that while I was held I thought I might just break through and fall to the ground. Attempting to open my eyes and see what was going on all I got was the blurring figure of what looked like a person but was much too tall and long. The distance I was held from the blurry figure was odd, like someone stretching their arms out fully. The oddly shaped, blurry figure wasn't the only strange thing, the sounds I could hear were just as strange if not stranger. I could hear yelling, lots of angry and demanding screams asking for something in a language I didn't understand. Attempting to turn and see what all of the yelling was about proved to be useless as the person holding me made no signs of moving me towards the sounds and I lacked the strength to move little more than my hand.

Giving up on trying to see what is happening for now, I focus on the person who is holding me to get a better look at them.

Grey skin pulled taught over a skeletal frame. Long arms that stretch beyond what normal human arms should ever be capable of reaching. Eyes that hold nothing but blackness. Rows of sharp teeth that looked ready to tear me apart, smiled down at me.

With the visage of a monster staring at me and ready to devour me, I promptly screamed and passed out. The life I wished for flashing before my eyes before it even began.

AN: Sorry this took so long to upload and for how short it is. I always pick the worst times to get back into writing, like right before the end of a semester. As for the chapter length, I realized that I had no passion for writing another rebirth scene and couldn't get it to flow the way I wanted. Expect another chapter at some point but I have an essay to write so it might be a hot minute. I have plans for two full arcs and one mini-arc so far, so even if it takes a while I will finish this story.
