The sun suddenly disappeared into the clouds and droplets of rain began to hit the dry ground. Cheers were heard from all corners of the city.
The servants in the Royal Castle closed the windows excitedly as the winds began to get more violent.
Princess Venita stood in her room starring outside as the trees swerved side to side. The rain clouds roared, followed by a heavy downpour. She goes close to the window to have a clearer view and looked excitedly outside. A tap on the door got her closing her windows hurriedly. A second tap and she answered, 'yes, come in'.
Alice, her maid walked in with a set of bedsheets and pillowcases.
'Oh Alice, you startled me. I thought that was my mom'. 'I'm sorry your highness' Alice replied. 'I brought new change over'.
'It's been ages since the last rain! Aren't you excited? Venita queried.
'Of course I am so excited your highness. The weather will be much better and we finally get to plant our crops. Its been far too long!'. Alice replied.
'I wonder who we offended this time but I'm glad the curse has finally been broken' Venita said with a laugh.
Venita walks to the window and stares outside.
'All my life, I've been caged inside the four walls of this castle. I wonder what the outside world holds'
'Your highness, this castle is your identity. Its also your safe haven. There's so much going on out there no doubt but please, don't start having thoughts of leaving the castle yet'
'Why shouldn't I have such thoughts Anita? It's so easy for you to say because you have the privilege of shuffling between both parts of the world'
Anita laughs softly while tucking the last part of the bedsheet. 'your highness, there really isn't anything out there except for dubious people trying to outsmart one another'.
'So, are you trying to say I can't survive in the city centre?'
'Anyone can survive in the city centre your highness. It just takes some getting used to'. She genuflects and leaves the room.
'Someday, I'll definitely visit the city centre, I know mama doesn't approve, but we'll find a way to take care of that. Speaking of mom, I need to speak with her.' She walks out of her room in a hurry.
