At the dinning table, the king, Kenna and Kaliyah were already seated. The servants were already placing the dishes on the table.
"Kenna, where is the queen? Is she alright?", the king asked.
Kaliyah and Kenna's eyes met at that moment and Kaliyah flashed her a smile which made Kenna uncomfortable.
"She… she is. I met her before coming downstairs. She'll be here soon", kenna replied.
"Good, we have to see. Since Kaliayah has decided to be a disgrace to our family and to the kingdom, it's good that you've been well behaved", the king started. Kenna's face turned sour while Kaliyah smiled widely.
"We may have to call of Kaliyah's engagement and have you take her stead", the king concluded. Just then, Brenna walked in.
"Your highness", she greeted and sat down.
"You didn't join us for dinner yesterday", he replied.
Brenna smiled, "Oh yeah, I was so weak yesterday, I had to go to bed early. What were you all talking about?", she asked to divert the attention from her.
"Father was just talking about me taking Kaliyah's place in this marriage alliance with the Slavcans", Kenna was quick to talk, her eyes pleading with her mother to say something.
"My king, we should not rush to make any decision right now, the Slavcan prince will decide if he wants to get married to Kaliyah or not", Brenna said.
Kaliyah looked at her weirdly. She had a feeling that this matter was what took Brenna out last night.
"Still, we should expect the worse from them. Those people can be pretty stern. They may not want to accept Kaliyah again", the king replied to Brenna and then turned to Kenna, "Please have an open mind. The Slavcans are not that bad and they will protect you and protect our people".
"Father, the Slavcans have not had a good history when it comes to loyalty and the Slavcan empire is definitely not the strongest empire to be able to protect us. The Dragons are the strongest", Kenna replied with a pout.
Kaliyah's mind wandered to the mystery dragon she had a one night stand with. She didn't even bother to get his name. will she able to find him?
"Kenna! Dragons? Never! You either marry the Serbian prince or the crown prince of the Jahir empire", Brenna said with a tone of finality.
Kaliyah hissed and started eating. Her family's drama was topnotch. She also ignored her father as he had been ignoring her this morning.
At the Draegos empire, the atmosphere was tensed in the throne room. Ignis, the king and emperor had ordered that his sons be present at the throne room. He had 3 sons, Azar, Zayn and Edgar. Immediately the queen heard everything, she started heading towards the throne room. She knew how tough her husband could be, she wondered what her sons did this time around. She was not ready for any kind of heartache.
When they were all present, Ignis finally spoke.
"Why are you here?", he asked his wife.
"I heard there was a family meeting, I was wondering why I was left out", she said with a 'come beat me' expression. Nothing was going to make her leave and Ignis saw that.
"Fine, suit yourself", he replied and then turned to his sons who all had bored expressions on their faces. They were used to their father sporadic anger outbursts.
"I received a letter this morning and I am outraged", he started, "That you were not blessed with mates does not mean that you should mess around. In fact, the fact that you were not blessed with mates is a chance for you to pick the best dragon female but this?", he said angrily and threw the letter he received at them.
Azar picked the letter and opened it to read.
"You guys have been going to mess around with human females!", Ignis roared angrily. He was stressed, his sons had stressed him a lot and now this.
Azar read the letter slowly, he knew he was the one the letter was referring to. He never forgot her which was… weird. He didn't know if she was brave or just naïve that night.
"Just say what happened", his wife requested.
"One of them", Ignis said, pointing at each of them impregnated a human princess", he said.
They were all shocked except Azar. The empress laughed hysterically, "How is that possible? We know how hard it is for a human to bear the seed of a dragon. None of them could have easily impregnated one", she tried to reason.
"Why will a princess lie about this? It doesn't even matter, this has just exposed what the three of them have been up to!", Ignis said gritting his teeth, "I just hope this is a lie because if this is true, then that human will have to be brought here"
"How can we have a half human, half dragon in the royal family? That child will be a weakling. We are purebloods!", the empress let out in frustration.
Edgar cleared his throat, "Have you guys thought what if this is a lie? A plan orchestrated by the humans to try to invade our territories? Why are you so quick to judge us father? Fine, we frequently visited the inn but we really had nothing to do with the human females", Edgar said trying to act hurt that his father blamed them, "They are too fragile for us", he added with a wink.
Ignis rolled his eyes and then turned to Azar and Zayn, they had said nothing since they entered.
"I really had nothing to do with a human female", Zayn was quick to say immediately his father's eyes fell on him.
"I'm the father of the child", Azar finally spoke.
