Music was playing, teens were having a blast, some were dancing, others were drinking. Some musical students were competing while some were playing games with their friends.
Kamal, Asad and the remaining group members walked into the hall and went to an empty table.
Asad planned on running away anytime from now but wasn't planning on telling Kamal. He wanted to go back to the hostel and bury himself in his blanket as he read his book.
All these women strip dancing and partying all night did not fascinate him.
Drinks were brought and some of the guys had began to sip on it.
"Let's go and dance"... Kamal says to Asad who wasn't liking the idea but agreed to it anyway. He would escape from there.
Kamal introduced Asad to a few females who were indecently dressed and were already intoxicated.
Asad didn't seemed interested in any. He wasn't even interested in coming but these ladies showed a hint of interest as they stared at Asad... probably mesmerized by his beauty.
Asad watched Kamal talk to a lady and slowly turned walked away in order to escape, he was not watching where he was going and in a matter of seconds he bumped into someone.
"Watch where you a-.." Asad stopped midway in his statement when he saw who he bumped into.
Like a charm, he became speechless.
He stared at her.
This couldn't be her. His savior is an angel but all he can see is a beautiful devil standing right in front of him right now.
She had makeup on and wore an outfit that hugged her body and was in the right proportion. Her golden hair was out in display, making her look more beautiful and to dab it all, he was clothed in a black dress.
Asad loved the color black and seeing it on his Savior just made him love the color more.
"Asad!" ... she beamed as she stared at him.
While Asad remained speechless, he was still gazing at her.
"I didn't you at attend parties"... she seemed surprised.
"Neither did I"... he finally replied making her smile.
'That smile'.... Asad thought.
Her smile did something to his heart. Something that made him feel like he should do something to see that smile again.
"Wanna dance??"... She asked and Asad found himself nodding.
He forgot all about the escape plan as she dragged him to the dance floor.
"I... I don't know how to dance".. he confessed as they arrived on the dance floor.
"Ohh, just follow my lead okay"... she said and Asad simply nodded.
Nawal danced with Asad in a slow and simple manner. She sensed that he might be uncomfortable dancing like the way others were dancing so she took it easy and Asad was glad that she did.
With each touch from Nawal, Asad felt like electric waves were moving down his body and he was enjoying every bit of it.
What felt like forever for Nawal , felt like it just started for Asad... their lovely dance ended.
Asad was disappointed it did but acted causally.
"Till we meet again"... she smiled and boom....Asad's heart was doing what it did. It was beating with joy causing him to smile back.
When was the last time he smiled.
He wanted to stay with her but stopped himself.
'Noo... I can't do this'... Asad stated.
'She brought me back to suffer here.
She is crazy for doing that and she is not even my type'... Asad poisoned his mind as he stared at her.
"Bye"... He said as his eyes began to turn cold.
He then walked away, he won't ruin his plans because of her.. who is she?
'She is just an ordinary girl who brought me back to suffer'... he reminded himself again making him angry.
He walked out of the hall and went further to look for a taxi.
After searching and searching, Asad couldn't find one near and he didn't have a phone to he couldn't call anyone.
Even if he did have a phone, he had no friends to call for help.
'How lovely is that?'... his sarcasm spoke for him.
He went to sit on top of a small hill he spotted. It gave him a beautiful view of the full moon under the dark blue sky.
He closed his eyes to heaved a sigh and for a minute, he saw her looking at him with those blue moon eyes and he smiled.
Nawal.
His eyes widened as he realized he was thinking of her.
'Stop that!'... he warned himself.
The sound of a weeping lady caught Asad's attention.
He spotted Noor crying at the other side of the hill.
'What was she doing here?'... he thought as he walked up to her.
"Twinkle?" ....He called out , slightly confused.
"What do you want , you arrogant man".. she frowned as she stared at him.
'What is it with people calling me arrogant'.... He wanted to say.
"Are you ...sad?"... he was hesitant with his question , he really didn't know how to comfort a person who is crying.
He usually shouts or breaks things when he is upset and feels it will suit everyone too.
"Leave me alone"... she stated as she stood up.
"Before you start questioning people about their own life, get yourself one." ....With that said , Noor walked away.
Asad remained speechless as he watched her walked further away.
He said nothing to himself as he watched her disappear.
'I should go back to my hostel'... Asad thought , he decided to think about something else.
He had no life, he believed that he was just occupying space on this earth and had no use so what is the point of getting a life?
He faced the direction in which he was suppose to take to get back him to his hostel and heaved a sigh.
It was quite far.
'It's nothing I haven't done before'... he remembered the time his Aunt Karima use made he trek to school on daily basis.
He began his journey back to his hostel as the night went by.
When he arrived, he started searching for his book but couldn't find it.
He groaned as he thought of punching Kamal in the face.
He kept on searching and found it in the dustbin.
Asad instantly became furious .
'Why will he throw my book in the dustbin?'.
'I will deal with him...'...Asad thought as he climbed his bed and resumed his reading.
Soon he drifted away into another world where he was happy and his savior was by his side as his support.
The following morning Asad rushed to class because he woke up late. He was glad he did not dream about Karima but annoyed he had another bad dream. He saw her in his dream which automatically made the dream bad.
He took his bath, dressed up and headed to class and took a seat at the extreme end of the class. Shortly afterwards, someone took the seat besides him.
Asad turn to see that it was that guy he beat up 2 days ago.
"Hi am I An—." Anas was caught off by Asad.
"Save it, I ain't interested"... Asad was back to his cold demeanor again.
'How will I get Asad on my side. I need to. The faster I do, the more money big boss will pay me'... Anas thought as classes started.
As soon as classes were over Asad took his leave, not giving Anas a chance to talk, nevertheless, Anas still followed him.
"Hey wait !".. Anas was following him in the hallway making Asad increase his pace.
"I just want to be your friend"... Anas statement halt Asad in his tracks.
Asad slowly turned and faced him with an angry face.
"I don't deal with losers who don't have respect for women".. Asad remember how Anas pushed his Aunt.
"It was a mistake".. Anas scratched the back of his head as he stared at Asad.
"Mistake.. well to hell with you and your mistake".. Asad spat as he walked away.
Anas stayed there looking hopeless... 'what am I going to do now?'
Asad made his way to his hostel and picked up his book, then headed to the library.
He meet Noor engrossed in the book she was reading and didn't bother to talk to her.
Sensing his presence, she looked up and smiled.
"Hi"... she said as she stood up but Asad didn't answer.
"I am sorry for the way I acted yesterday. Things were going the wrong way"... she nervously rubbed her hands together.
"It's cool".. Asad stated, not even sparing her a glance.
"I know we didn't start off well but I was hoping you could give our friendship a second chance"... Noor request and Asad just shrugged.
"I don't do friends"... Asad finally looked at her . His eyes seemed empty at the moment as he spoke.
"I don't like people and they don't like me to and I am happy that way"... Asad's eyes became void again.
Noor felt bad for Asad.
"Our biggest enemies and liars disguise themselves as people we like to call family and friends. They claim they love you but their eyes show their envy. They claim they will always be there for you but their minds have plotted millions of ways to kill you. At the end tail , we are all just living in a dead world".... Asad said and shrugged but his eyes showed something different.
'If his Aunt Karima could kill both her brothers... what can't others go to you?'... Asad thought.
Noor remained quiet, as if remember something from the past.
"Excuse me".. Asad walked past Noor.
"I don't need anyone"... Asad said to himself as he walked to the gym.
"I don't need anyone at all"... he said again and he kept on repeating it till he got to the gym.
He went for his punching bag and punched out all his pain there.
Later that night , Asad was finding it hard to sleep again so he got up and went to a liquor store.
'It's the only thing that would help'... he thought.
He had little money on him and he didn't mind spending it on some alcohol.
He bought a bottle and slowly began to it gulped down .
As he was sipping his alcohol, he saw someone walked in which made him smile.
***
Anas being his stubborn self still decided to follow Asad , he listened to Asad give his sappy speech to a pretty lady in which will go and approach later then he followed Asad to the gym and watched Asad mercilessly punch a punching bag.
Anas held his jaw in the process, remembering the punches Asad threw his way when he fell his Aunt down ...it still hurts.
Anas stayed not to far as he watched Asad go to his hostel.
Giving him some space, Anas decided to go and look for a liquor store.
Now he can finally walk freely in the school premises unlike when he was stalking Asad in secret.
He shook his head at the thought of it.
He has been stalk Asad for a long time now.
Ever since Asad lost his parents, Anas came into the picture....Anas was only 16 years old that time.
He used to get bored when he was spying on Asad that time cause all Asad does was cry , sit in silence and get lost in his own thoughts but then he watched Asad grow to become cold and rude.
Asad started becoming void and empty and that's exactly how big boss wanted him to be.
It's not something he likes doing, big boss forced it upon him and he had no choice. It's either death or this job of his and he wasn't ready to die but he didn't want this either.
Going back to university after graduating three years ago isn't something he saw himself doing again but here he was, walking through the hallway of this university.
'At least I get to hook up with fine girls and party all night again'... Anas smirked.
'Asad only talk to two ladies. The one he talked to in the library today and the one who usually saves him. I can hook up with both and many more'.... Anas smiled at the thought.
There was nothing he didn't know about Asad. Stalking him for many years made it feel like Anas was watching a movie that revolves around Asad. He knows Asad daily routine and how he likes to live his life.
He headed towards the liquor store that he usually see Asad going to.
Surprisingly enough, he met Asad sitting on a stool. Siping his alcohol like it was the only thing he could afford.
That made Anas smiled.
He remembered the first time he saw Asad go to the bar.
Big boss practically forced him to go and buy for Asad some more drinks and that's how Asad lost track of counts and left the store intoxicated.
That's how he also failed his exam as well.
'Poor thing'... Anas thought as he gazed at Asad and walked up to him.
He took a seat besides Asad and watch him smile.
Anas was taken aback by Asad's facial expression. He doesn't think he has ever seen Asad smiled since when he became Asad's spy.
"Can I tell you a secret".. Asad leaned into Anas and whispered slowly.
Anas slowly nodded as he waited to hear what Asad will say.
"You look so pretty when you smile"... Asad blushed as he stared at Anas.
In Asad intoxicated eyes , he saw his savior but in reality he was talking to a guy that was almost twice his age.
Anas remained speechless as Asad continue to speak.
Asad pouted at him as he continued... "I want to see your hair, it's also pretty".
Anas was shocked but also found the situation funny.
'The young man is falling in love...' ...Anas smiled at the thought.
'I taught him well...' Anas gave himself a mental pat on the shoulder.
Instead of answering Asad's endless questions and complements, Anas bought him some more alcohol and he let Asad drink till he dozed off.
He then picked up Asad and took him back to his hostel only to find his roommate fast asleep.
Anas tuck in Asad and watch Asad smile as he sleep.
'Enjoy the moment while it last kiddo'... he thought as he walked out of Asad's hostel.
'I will soon get rid of her...' Anas chuckled as he walked to his own hostel.
Anas dozed off for awhile but was awoken by his alarm.
He checked the time and saw that it was 5am.
'Perfect'... he thought.
'Asad is going to wake up in an hour time. I better get going'.... Anas smiled as he got out of bed and got ready for the day.
He dressed up nicely and smiled with confidence.
He was going to approach some ladies today, starting with the one Asad spoke to in the library.
***
Asad woke up feeling refreshed yet angry... he dreamt about her yet again.
"Hello Asad"... Kamal gave him a lazy smile as he stretched his limbs out.
Kamal then gazed at him for a moment.
Asad ignored him and decided to do his morning routine. He wasn't planning on talking to Kamal for a while, not after he threw his book in the dustbin.
"Common couz, don't tell me you're still angry about the day before yesterday".. Kamal rose to his feet as he followed Asad out of the hostel.
Asad ignored as he walked through the hallway.
"I saw the way you looked at her, the way you guys danced , just so you know you she ain't interested"... Kamal yelled through the hallway, knowing he will gain Asad's attention and he was right. His statement made Asad stopped midway in his tracks.
"I danced with her after you left"... Kamal smirked making Asad turn.
Kamal wanted to see how Asad would react and that's why he said what he said.
"Cool".. Asad felt something rise within him but he could depict what it was but he just played it cool.
"She isn't bad"...Kamal shrugged. He was still trying to get a reaction from Asad.
Asad was too void and calm for his liking.
Asad's facial expression was flat as he listened to Kamal.
He didn't give anything off to Kamal but what he felt inside was weird to him.
'She doesn't like me. She is just being nice to everyone...'... Asad said to himself and felt disappointed wash over him.
'Why would she?'... his inner voice asked him.
Kamal smiled even though he didn't get any reaction from Asad, he was able to make Asad halt in his tracks and that's a big step.
He used the opportunity to walk up to Asad.
"The girl ain't your type . She belongs to the streets. I will introduce you to far better girls"...Kamal whispers into Asad's ear as he smiles.
"I never said I was interested"... Asad snapped at Kamal and walked away.
'This my confused cousin'... Kamal shook his head as he watched Asad walk away.
As he was watching Asad walk further away, something else drew Kamal's attention .
It was a guy, talking to Noor. Noor huffed and fired him with a slap causing him to widened his eyes.
He looked like was about to beat the daylight out of Noor that's not till he was stopped by Asad.
Kamal was shocked as he watched.
His Cousin was indeed confused.
'Was it Noor or Nawal?'.... Kamal shook his head as he watched the little drama that was in display.
Meanwhile Asad threatened Anas. "This should be the first and the last time you will harass a lady in this school"....Asad narrowed his eyes as he walked closer to Anas.
Anas held a flat facial expression.
'One touch and I will break you into bones...' Anas said to himself as he patiently waited for Asad to loose his cool.
"Stop acting like a hero when we all know your not but a loser"...Anas mocked and that was enough to make Asad explode.
Asad began to throw punches Anas' way and Anas was fortunate to block some.
Anas began to fight within a matter of seconds he realized he didn't stand a chance with Asad.
He was doom!!!
Asad kept on punching Anas till the poor guy fell unconscious.
"Asad stop, your going to kill the guy"... Noor tried to stop Asad but his ears were deaf at the moment.
Kamal watch with curiosity from a distance before deciding to intervene.
"Asad it's enough"... Kamal said to Asad who still refuse to listen .
"It's enough, I say"... Kamal pushed away Asad who had bloody fists. His eyes slightly red from anger and Asad was not yet satisfied. His breathing uneven as he stared at Kamal.
"Well".. Kamal threw his hands in the air, "Are you going to beat me up as well?".
Asad hissed in response as he turned his back and went the opposite direction. He went back to the hostel and started pacing back and forth.
He ran his bloody hands through his hair as he tried to calm himself down but nothing was working.
Feeling more frustrated ,he began to punch the walls in his room.
His blood painting the walls.
After throwing a few more punches to the wall , Asad looked for some money within his clothes and went to the bar to clear his head.
He bought several bottles and allowed himself become intoxicated before leaving the bar.
***
That afternoon, Nawal hummed as she searched for a book in the library. She had a project to work on and needed to start it as soon as possible.
The sound of footsteps stumbling caught her attention.
Her gaze followed the sound of the footsteps and it lead her right to him.
His gray eyes showed his pain and emptiness as he stared at her.
He smiles for a moment as he took some steps towards her before stumbling to the ground.
She was quick to catch him from falling and instantly took notice of his knuckles.
She gasps as he looked at how injured they were.
"Here you are. I have been looking for you"... he gave her a goofy smile, still in his intoxicated state.
"Look at your knuckles for God sake".. she began to scold him as she sat him down.
"Wait here" she ordered as she rushed go bring the first aid box and to her surprise, she came back and met Asad patiently waiting.
She heaved a sigh as she walked towards him.
"You look as pretty as always"... Asad smiled as he took notice of her.
Nawal ignored his comment and started tending to his wounds.
"Give me your other hand"... she ordered and he slightly pouted before giving her.
"Let me guess, you were punching walls again".. she raised a brow as she looked at him, remembering the last time she met him in the gym with wounded knuckles and a stained wall.
Asad did not respond instead he kept on staring at her like he has never seen her before.
After talking for a while, she stared at him.
His cloudy gray eyes pierced into hers.
From the way his nose was perfectly shaped to his sculptured jawline, soft like silk hair , radiant white skin and his cloudy gray eyes... she could tell he was not from her.
He was a half cast or maybe even a foreigner ... just like her.
His gaze became intense and she stared away, focusing on his knuckles instead .
They were well bandaged and she was hoping he will let it heal and also let himself heal from whatever is hurting him.
Nawal stood up to leave. She glanced at him one more time before taking her leave.
As she step foot out of the library, she notices the rain.
'Oh God'... she says as she walks back in.
She has to wait for the rain to go away before she can leave . She walks back to Asad's table and takes a seat opposite him.
"My savior is back"... Asad smiles at her as he looks into her eyes.
Nawal started feeling his gaze become too intense and so she stares away and looks at the shelf instead.
"I don't know why I also see you whenever I close my eyes. It's creepy if you ask me because I want to hate you for bringing me back to this misery but I can't".... Asad was freely saying what was on his mind .
Nawal simply listens as he continues to speak.
"I don't know, You're sweet and beautiful but you don't like me. I can be sweet to"... he smiles as he stands up to demonstrate how sweet he can be but immediately falls to the ground.
Nawal was quick to catch him yet again.
She tried pulling him up but he was to heavy .
"That's why your my savior, always catching me when I fall"... he caressed her cheek as he moved closer to her.
Their faces inches from each other.
"You know what"... Asad whispers close to her ear.
"I don't know why I like it when you smile, it does something to my heart that makes me want to see it again".... was the last thing he said before dozing off due the alcohol.
