Chapter 8 - Another member

Cuntel Font Xorxos' library could be likened to a den of books. The shelves were so high up in the air I couldn't help but imagine how he collected them.

My eyes fell on a ladder and I understood how. Mhen, must be nice being a rich man.

He sat on a chair at the far end of the corner and pointed to another. Signaling me to the seat. I sat without wasting time.

"I'm sure you've met my daughter," he began in a frantic tone. It felt like he wanted to tell me something he was very embarrassed about.

That was okay by me. Everyone had something they didn't want to talk about. Take Birdynn and Mistaike as examples. I'd never want to explain to anyone that Birdynn was twenty-seven years old and Mistaike was an elemental dragon.

So, it was okay. "Yes, I've met Cunta and she's quite a lady," I said in a very calm voice. The kind that would boost his confidence up a little.

As the strongest man alive I have to be very sensitive. To people's emotions and all. This is tough work.

He nodded," Cunta is actually a skilled witch. She can use magic. She inherited it from her mother. The only problem is that she becomes a coward whenever she's faced with danger," he said in one breath.

I knew it! I just knew it! Regal was a witch? Of course, she was a witch! Why wouldn't her voice be so calming and soothing if she wasn't a witch? This man really hit the jackpot in marriage.

"Can you help me train her?" He asked as he looked straight into my eyes.

Train who? I thought. Then I remembered his daughter was a witch too. So I was going to train Cunta? No way. I'd rather train his wife rather than his daughter.

He sighed, "I'll pay you a thousand fyun monthly," he added.

Fyun was our world's currency. And a thousand fyun a month was like ten thousand dollars in another world. I opened my mouth in disbelief. He was ready to pay me a thousand fyun and monthly too, "I'm in!" I yelled as I jumped up in sync.

I didn't even need to think twice. Now I had enough money to take care of those two ladies. Who said being the strongest couldn't put food on the table– think again please and this time do it properly.

He let out a loud laugh. "That was easier than I thought," he said with a smirk on his face.

I scratched the back of my left elbow with my right middle finger. Well, I was the strongest man alive so I have to help those in need. I am not the one in need. I alone remain the strongest.

"I'm going back to my room," I said. Then I remembered I didn't have a room. Well maybe I did but I've been here for a long time and maybe everyone has been given a room to sleep in.

The floors looked comfortable to sleep on. Maybe I could even find an old rug and wrap myself in it. Would that make me a national treasure? Of course not!

He got up from the chair on which he sat and smiled, "As I said earlier my wife is a witch so we knew you were coming ahead of time. Let me lead you to your room," he said and I followed behind him.

The Xorxos' were very nice fellows. I'd make sure to do my best concerning their daughter. She will stop being a coward and become the most courageous witch to ever live. I swear on my life.

We soon got to the room that had been arranged for me. He stopped at the closed door. I bowed in appreciation, "Thank you," I said. He smiled and left.

If only I knew what was awaiting me behind that door I'd have just opted to sleep on the floors or even gone as far as to rent a room in a nearby inn.

But never forget, I, Ren Dick, remain the strongest. In the words of Gojou Satoru, 'Throughout the heavens and the earth, I remain the chosen one'.

That's all that matters!
