"Does he think he's our leader or something?" the girl muttered quietly to her friend and hiccupped when she met Heathcliff's eyes.
When Heathcliff saw her startled silence, he continued to stare at Amaris. They had already been here for more than half an hour and still nothing had happened. He didn't want to go and disturb Amaris. If he distracted her, he might waste time and he certainly didn't want that.
Amaris, on the other hand, looked at the shapes she had drawn on the paper. She had managed to decipher the meaning of a few of the shapes, which followed a pattern. The book in his hand was helping him a lot.
She used to know all the ancient languages, but over time she had forgotten most of them. She had not expected the manual she had written for herself all those years ago to be so useful. It was quite an improvement as she slowly remembered the information she had forgotten.
