Cale watched with a frown as Amy talked gibberish in her dream and finally woke up screaming. She rubbed her face hard as Amy got up from where she lay, her neck and hair wet with sweat.
She felt tired and miserable from the nightmares she was having again after a long absence. She was confused by the person she kept chasing and running away from in her nightmares. Amy was afraid of her nightmares because she felt a deep sadness in her heart that she had never felt before.
She didn't know exactly how to explain it, but it felt like her heart was breaking into a thousand pieces. She didn't know who or what she was upset about, but it felt like it was destroying her.
Her gaze shifted to Cale, who was stirring the embers of the fire with a twig. Her brow furrowed as hatred for him rose inside her. There was no explanation for the hatred she had felt for him since she was a little girl. It was as natural as breathing.
