By the time the monster wave was over, the border town and the outskirts of the city were in complete ruins. Luckily there were no casualties in the chaos, but there were many people injured.
As Aqua looked at the centipedes he and Fredrich had killed, he thought about the damage that had been done because of the wrong decisions they had made. They had killed centipedes, but could they call it a victory? As he looked at the ruined buildings, he felt anger and disappointment.
"Good job," he heard Fredrich's voice say, and his gaze turned to him.
"...Did I really do a good job?" he muttered. "If it hadn't been for you, the casualties would have been more than this."
"I just held them. You were the one who killed them," Aqua's lips curled as Fredrich gave him the credit without minimizing his own success.
"I don't remember seeing you on missions before."
"I was mostly doing paperwork."
