Chapter 37 - Vs. Teikō III

After looking at Shintarō, Shōgo turned around to defend. This game is quite strange!

"Snap!" "Snap!" "Snap!"

Ryōta dribbled the basketball, crossed half-court, moved to the perimeter, and prepared to continue the contest with Shōgo.

"Ryōta!"

The one speaking was Shintarō, reminding Ryōta not to fall into the trap set by Shōgo. At the moment, Ryōta had no chance of scoring on Shōgo.

The current Shōgo indeed seemed exceptionally terrifying. Even Shintarō felt a sense of fear.

Reluctantly, Ryōta passed the ball to Shintarō.

"Swoosh!"

The basketball was tossed high, hollowing into the net. Shintarō effortlessly scored a three-pointer, bringing the score to 4-3.

Even Fukuda's players, who often practiced with Shōgo, now looked at Shintarō disregarding their defense and easily scoring.

A sense of powerlessness, terror, and helplessness swept over them. In this era of miracles, the strength of the Generation of Miracles was truly incomparable, second only to Shōgo-kun.

Just then, a pair of hands patted the absent-minded teammate's shoulder.

"Don't be afraid. Even though we're born in this era, we might not match the Generation of Miracles, but at least we need to do our best, right?"

"Furthermore, we have Shōgo-kun. Our role is to defend and secure the rear for Shōgo-kun."

The speaker was none other than the captain, Arata, he understood the fear his teammates were feeling because he had experienced it last year.

But fear needed to be dispelled, and it required unwavering will and spirit. Arata had gradually rebuilt himself amidst such setbacks last year.

"I understand, Captain!"

"Good, let's do it!"

The basketball once again found its way into Shōgo's hands. Dribbling past half-court and observing the approaching Ryōta, Shōgo's eyes gleamed with a hint of a sinister smile. He taunted.

"Ryōta, your girlfriend tastes good: tender, smooth, moist, and elastic."

As he finished speaking, Shōgo accelerated, breezing past Ryōta. Before Shintarō could catch up, Shōgo executed a jump shot.

The basketball left his hand in a parabolic trajectory and swiftly sank into the basket.

Whistle! The referee's whistle sounded, and Fukuda Junior High gained another 3 points. Applause resounded from the audience.

Ignoring the surprise and shock of Shintarō and Atsushi, Shōgo ran past Ryōta again, delivering one more line.

"She tastes tender, smooth, moist, and elastic. I'm not lying, you can try it!"

"Tsk! Tsk! Tsk! So tender..."

Ryōta's pupils contracted as he watched the departing figure, took a deep breath, and then returned to his senses. He sighed in frustration, feeling helpless.

"Although I'm not happy about it and it's infuriating, I really can't do anything against you now, Shōgo-kun."

Seeing Ryōta regain his composure, Shōgo also sighed inwardly. Indeed, the Generation of Miracles individuals were all mentally tough and impervious to external influences. The current Ryōta saw through his attempt to provoke him, and instead, it helped him recover more quickly.

Indeed, one can't steal a chicken and lose the rice! Shōgo had received a small lesson, he shouldn't underestimate any member of the Generation of Miracles.

With nothing else to say, Ryōta dribbled past half-court and passed the basketball to Shintarō, who once again ignored the defender and calmly made another three-point shot.

The audience gasped in shock as they witnessed Shintarō's casual three-pointer from just beyond half-court.

The applause and cheers quickly followed, turning into resounding shouts.

"Generation of Miracles!" "Generation of Miracles!" "Generation of Miracles!"

After releasing the basketball, Shintarō had already turned around and started to defend.

Feeling the cheers from the audience, Shōgo felt somewhat resigned. Teikō Junior High, whether in terms of reputation, strength, or influence, was beyond what Fukuda Junior High could match.

Moreover, the players from Teikō, except for Tetsuya, were all exceptionally handsome and garnered a massive following.

Shaking his head and clearing his thoughts, Shōgo received the basketball passed by Arata, then easily bypassed Ryōta, Shōgo moved into the paint, feeling the pressure from Atsushi. After careful consideration, he stepped back from the three-point line.

With a beautiful fadeaway jump shot, the basketball swished through the net for another 3 points.

This three-pointer immediately caught the attention of Teikō's coach. If Shōgo's first three-pointer had an element of coincidence and luck, this shot proved a significant point.

If both sides continued to shoot three-pointers like this, Teikō's victory wouldn't be as assured, and there might even be a chance of losing the game.

Teikō's coach substituted a player from the second team and sent a message to Tetsuya.

"Tetsuya-kun, it's time for you to make an impact."

"I understand coach, I will do my best." answered Tetsuya.

As Shōgo continued to shoot three-pointers, he returned to defense after scoring. Approaching the player defending Shintarō, Shōgo said seriously,

"Let's switch defensive assignments. I'll guard Shintarō, and you go defend the one with blond hair."

"Understood, Shōgo-kun!"

The player guarding Shintarō finally breathed a sigh of relief. The pressure from Shintarō had been immense. Ignoring his defense and repeatedly scoring, particularly with three-pointers, was demoralizing.

As an ordinary person, who could endure this? Who could withstand such a forceful counterattack every time someone scored, a continuous blow to their confidence, and a constant questioning of their abilities? Faced with the Generation of Miracles, many found themselves pushed to the brink.

After switching defensive assignments, Shōgo approached Shintarō, speaking earnestly.

"While Ryōta has made significant progress, he's not yet qualified to challenge me. I'm quite interested in you, Tetsuya!"

"Is that so? Your transformation has intrigued me as well, Shōgo!"

Dribbling the ball past half-court, Ryōta watched the approaching defender, not Shōgo, and first looked bewildered, then disappointed, and finally angry.

Are you looking down on me? Well, then, I'll mercilessly score.
