Chapter 122 - Leave Them Be

"That woman really needs to be tamed." Calum thought aloud as he drove.

Alora got into the car and put on her seat belt. "Drive."

He did as he was told and asked, "Miss Silver, why are you going to work when you still haven't fully recovered?"

"I have to work because there is nothing else for me to do. I'm getting older not younger." She scrolled through her phone.

"You aren't that old. You are seventeen, right?"

"Rude to ask a woman her age. I don't really remember." She tapped her chin. "I'm between seventeen and twenty years old. I think."

"And Master Cannon is twenty four, I'm guessing." He drove faster and reached the university in no time.

"Thank you." She leaned and kissed his cheek. "I owe you one."

"Gosh, I'm exhausted." She sighed as she put the twins to sleep. "Second babysitting job over." She yawned.

"Thank you very much, Alora." A young couple walked into to their apartment.

"No, it's alright." She looked back at the brown haired twins. "I love kids."

"That's good." The woman smiled. "Chop, chop, you have work to do."

"Right." She got up, bowed and left the house.

"Next up, the restaurant."

Alora ate her dinner and went to take a bath. Feeling the hot water against her skin was exilerating. She wiped her body dry and climbed into her bed.

She slept fitfully, dreaming about a house full of kids.

Yawning, she crawled out of her bed.

"How did I manage to wake up by two in the morning?" She quietly skipped downstairs, onlly to hear two voices from the living room.

"Josie, I'm worried about Alora." She heard Charles say. "She is working herself to the bone."

"I'm worried too." Josie sighed . "But she has her boyfriend who might just convince her and they have such a good relationship, I bet the press don't know about her yet."

"What are you saying?"

"I'm saying we should convince her to pick either one of these theories; theory number one, she should stop working and settled down with Master Cannon."

"Knowing her, she won't agree to that." Char shook his head in dismay. "And what is the second theory?"

"She should break up with him."

There was an ear-piercing silence.

"Why? Are you interested in him?"

"Of course not." She said in shock. "How can you think so little of me?"

"Then, what do you mean?"

"If she continues with this relationship, she could end up in the range of his work and she could be used as his loophole. If push comes to shore, the enemies of the Cannon House would inevitably kill her."

"Oh, I understand now." Char sounded sad. "But she loves him. I don't want to see her heartbroken."

"Well, do you want to see her dead?"

"We may as well kill her. Wasn't it because he left that she enter a mental strain?" Char reminded her. "We should leave them be. He'll protect her. I know he will."

"Alright then. But if anything happens, I'm not the one to blame."

Alora silently snuck back upstairs and tried to sleep.

'I'll call Austin.' She took out her phone and dialed his number
