"Grandma!" I called out, a gentle shout that sometimes gets lost if she's tending to the garden with the water hose.

The mansion itself was silent, a choice Grandma made to live alone. It's a bit puzzling; maybe she's one of those people who prefer solitude? But that couldn't be it. Grandma has always been social with her friends. Still, she likes being alone.

The mansion gave me a sense of safety. It felt like one of those bases in anime—protected and seemingly heavily guarded. Yet, she lives alone, almost as if she dislikes being around others when she's not in the mood.

The mansion's door loomed in front of me like a giant puzzle waiting to be solved. It stood taller than any tree I'd seen and wider than the widest river. The wood was smooth, resembling the pages of my favorite bedtime storybook, with a color that mixed shades of chocolate and caramel—just like the candy Grandma used to hide for me.
