Chapter 27 - Fisherman Village Arc: Mist of South

Hundreds... No thousands of threads came swaying at us it's barely visible as the moonlight reflects on it. I have no time to react. Time as if slowed...

"Reality Release: Chrono Switch!" Venidith chanted beside me her palms crossed forming a prayer hand.

Hannah, Sam, and Aisha emitted a radiant light they disappeared moments as the thread swayed at them almost slashing

them...

The threads form a sick tornado of threads looking like a show as the moonlight reflects in them.

I felt thousands of threads slash my entire body, if I wasn't wearing Abigail I would've been naked now. I couldn't feel the pain as the threads slashed my entire body.

"NOO!" Sam cried, her cries were gut-wrenching.

I couldn't move as the threads continuously slashed at me If I were to move it would've targeted the three behind me who wouldn't be surviving this. I feel my blood dripping from thousands of cuts, some were deep some were just small slits.

It happened so quickly, that I looked around to see a girl dressed in some kind of tribal dress akin to southern Mindanao. She's standing on a thread the sky looks like a broken spider's web. The threads are illuminated by the moonlight.

Her eyes were entirely black, save for the letters that formed words within them. In her left eye, the letters spelled "Sᜁᜈᜓᜎᜒᜇ᜔/thread," while her right eye bore the inscription "Kᜀᜍᜌ᜔oᜋ᜔/Needle."

"Surviving an onslaught like this," the demon paused, her gaze fixed directly on me. "You're different from the rest, especially that laughable Shaman," she chuckled, her laughter carrying a sinister undertone.

"Stay calm, Sam!" Hannah's voice cut through, presumably restraining Sam from rushing towards me.

"Master, you're losing blood," Abigail's tone remained emotionless. "I can provide more blood and promote clotting, but true healing is beyond my capabilities."

"That works for me," I replied, my breath growing heavier. Though I couldn't sense the pain or its effects, my body struggled to compensate for the blood loss.

"Seems like your abilities are somewhat restricted," Venidith interjected, a playful lilt to her voice. "Confined to a specific area, perhaps?" Her words teased the demon.

"Oh? You seem to talk but you're allied with this sorry group of a people?" The demon's arrogance grew evident in her tone.

"If you hadn't released your veil, I would've smothered your pretentious bitch face," Venidith retorted, her voice dripping with mockery. "You're not even a demon but a puppet just like the ugly fucking spider of yours."

Beside the demon, a colossal spider made its slow advance, its immense form stretching about twenty feet tall. The Cephalothorax exhibited a brown hue adorned with a fine white fuzz. Its posterior median eyes were encircled by a stark black outline, while its sternum took on the shape of a heart, featuring a slender elongation at its distal end. The abdomen, oval and anteriorly truncated, sported yellowish coloring with striking black stripes. Its ventral side boasted a brownish tint marked by parallel lines of yellow.

Visibly angered by Venidith's commentary on her arachnid companion, the demon clenched her teeth. "How dare you! Despite being a demon whore, you have an awful lot to say."

Venidith's laughter resonated in response. "I may be a virgin, but I've employed my clones to entice men. Nevertheless, seems that you're loose and pretty much ugly as well." Her laughter reverberated through the night.

"Now's not the time for insults," I interjected my effort to focus my vision becoming more challenging as shakiness and blurriness set in.

Abigail's monotonous voice conveyed her assessment. "I've managed to clot most of the wounds. Curiously, you seem immune to any sensation of pain."

"Yeah," I muttered, the sound of Sam's sobbing still audible from behind me. Evidently, Hannah had succeeded in consoling her.

The demon's frustration boiled over as she made a gesture, her middle and ring fingers intertwined with her right hand.

The ground beneath Venidith splintered, and with a swift leap, she landed gracefully on a tree branch, her movement quicker than my eyes could track. It appeared as though she had teleported, though in reality, her speed was simply astonishing.

"Borrowed power is always weak," Venidith remarked, a smirk playing across her face as she leaned against the tree, her tone tinged with mockery.

My desire to help gnawed at me, but my options were limited. The slightest motion on my part might invite an attack from the demon, leaving those behind me vulnerable. Russ wasn't operating at full capacity, and pushing him further could worsen his condition.

The threads swayed in an unusual manner, as though they were weaving themselves into something. Each thread intertwined with another, gradually forming tentacle-like extensions reminiscent of a colossal octopus, all constructed from threads.

Glistening in the moonlight, these threads painstakingly took shape, weaving together one tendril after another.
