The towering monster loomed over me, resembling an oversized aswang with a twisted feature—the unnaturally unhinged jaws, poised to consume us in a single bite if I'm not careful.
In a blur, it charged at us with insane speed, and Sabrina, frozen in fear, wouldn't be able to move. Quickly, I turned around, grabbing Sabrina and throwing her away just in the nick of time to dodge the beast's claws. A searing pain shot through my left shoulder as the monster's claws grazed it. "Ugh," I grunted, feeling the warm blood flowing from the wound.
The monster, now closer, taunted me with its raspy voice. "Oh? You weren't yapping earlier? You're faster than you look, but how long can you hold?" it laughed menacingly.
I held my left shoulder, realizing the wound wasn't deep, but I knew it was a ticking clock—I couldn't afford to lose more blood or risk passing out.
