SAPPHIRE POV:
After biology class, Mia had a different class from me so all she could do was walk me to the next class I had which was maths. I wouldn't say I hate maths it's just what's the point of learning what you're never gonna use in the future. So when I walked in, I went to the back to sit down. I was already settled when a tall boy with brown hair came to sit with me. I was literally shaking but what can I do, it's not like I own the chair or something. Lectures were about to begin and I figured that I, being the dumbass that I am lost my pencil on my way to class. I was searching everywhere in my bag but guess what luck wasn't on my side so the only option I had was to ask brown hair for an extra pencil. If you're an introvert you'll understand that this is easier said than done. I can do this, I can do this... I continue to chant in my head as I gathered courage to ask him for a pencil. "Um, hi, please do you have an extra pencil, I just lost mine".
Silence. The silence from him was so loud but as I was about to ask someone else, he gave me his pencil. I sighed in relief. I started taking notes and as time passed by, the class was already over. I packed my stuff and as I was about to return his pencil, I couldn't find brown hair again so I rushed outside and I started speed walking towards him. I know the best idea would be to call after him but first off, I don't know his name, I can't run up to him screaming at him just to return his pencil because everyone will be looking at me like a weird new student so I continued forward till I got to him. "You forgot your pencil with me" I said. "You can keep it for the rest of the day" he said. "Thank you again umm, what's your name?" "Christian" he replied "thank you Christian for lending me your pencil".
I started going to my next class which passed like a breeze and moved to the next one.
Soon it was lunch time, I went to the cafeteria to get my lunch, I spotted Mia because she was waving at me to sit with her and guess what she was with Christian. I guess they're friends.
"Sapphire, how's your classes been?" Mia asked me. "It's been ok, I guess?" I sat down next to Mia. "So Sapphire this is Christian my best friend you can also call him Chris and well, Chris this is Sapphire, if you can't tell she's a new student".
"We met already at math class" Chris told her. "Yeah I borrowed his pencil" I told her the last part of it and she seemed shocked but she noticed that the silence was becoming awkward and decided to change the subject.
During this period I learned about the main characters in the school. We have Daniel, who's the most quiet one, Felix who's the heartbeat of the group, playboy character and more of an extrovert, Lilian is the only girl in their little group, she has known all of them since 7th grade and finally the leader of the group Jackson, he is super rich, arrogant and can charm literally anybody. I also came to learn that all of them in their friend group are very rich.
Then for the other popular set were Winnie the leader and diva, Michelle and Christy who are her followers and from what I'm hearing from Christan and Mia, I don't ever want to cross paths with Winnie and her crew. "There was a time this girl was seen getting close to Jackson and his friends, Minnie got so jealous and bullied the girl until she changed schools".
It became obvious to me that Minnie was obsessed with Jackson and his friends but all of them refused to acknowledge her. I wondered why they couldn't do anything to Lilian so I asked Mia. "Well it's because the boys are protective of her for some reason which no one seems to know". I looked at the table were the boys and Lilian sat and stared at their faces before I continued eating and then lunch time was over.
The rest of school passed like a breeze and I was heading home, if you could even call it that. I put on my headphone and I'm listening to home by Machine gun Kelly and the rest of them. It feels ironic because the place I'm going to is definitely not home at all.
I got home and neither of my parents where there, at least some moments of peace before they come back. I freshened up and did all my homework and before you know it, I dozed off.
I woke up to hear my parents arguing about another unnecessary topic. Before I could allow them to involve me I started studying again but that didn't work out because I could hear my mum scream my name and I started grumbling about how I didn't want to be part of this.
"Sapphire, can anybody be more unreasonable than your father? He can't appreciate a thing that I'm doing in this family". My mum complained to me. "Sapphire, can you tell your mother that she's not the only one putting effort into this family". My dad told me. My mum started yelling at my dad, screaming curses at my father and how she would have been much better without him. "Aren't you going to say anything?" My mum questioned me. "I think that the two of you are doing what's be-" I couldn't continue because my mum slapped me hard and another one on the other cheek. She hit me again
"I can't believe my only daughter could say something so stupid, other daughters will not hesitate to support their mother but no my own must be different. I don't even know why you're here. Come to think of it, you're the reason why there's always trouble in this house". My mum said. At this point, I should be used to it by now but I'm standing here crying.
I looked at mum and dad one last time before storming up to my room. When I got there I broke down completely. As a child growing up you expect a happy family but that's not what I got. I laughed to myself at how my dad couldn't do shit when my mum was hitting me. I stayed up till 11pm contemplating why my life turned out like this. I started listening to music because as I always say music is happiness. Honestly, without music I would have probably committed suicide. I went to sleep finally with a new conviction
