Chapter 3 - Graveyard Made Of Spears

Despite tens of thousands of people viewing the fight, not a single sound was made.

Right after the hundred-eyed man finished his words, his hands began to form into pseudo spears, and hundreds of dark spears began condensing into the air.

Time seemed to have stopped; the condensed spears froze, and so did the hundred-eyed man. The spectators were also affected.

"Interesting, despite the sheer number of fodder here, I've never encountered one of your class. It's very interesting, but I'll teach you something about the Hollow class. We have three core principles: absorb, steal, and take. Hehehe, if you're not getting the point, just know! I'm going to do that to every single one of you today!"

Despite time being stopped, they all perceived what the man had said. Some felt fear, some mocked them in their minds, and others were indifferent.

Time resumed, and the hundreds of condensed spears flew down from the sky, impaling Renes from every possible angle. To follow up with the deadly attack, the hundred-eyed man blinked towards the man, impaling him with his pseudo spears.

"I-impossible!" Renes cried, splurting out blood from his mouth.

The hundred-eyed man split Renes in half mercilessly and looked down at the corpse with a condescending and somewhat disappointed expression.

Suddenly, he felt pain in his back; the force of whatever hit him sent him flying all the way into the wall on the opposite side of the arena.

"Did you think I would die that easily? I wanted to give you a false sense of hope before I killed you. Also, I wanted to talk some more without expending any more energy. I'm sure you'd like to hear what I have to say as well. To get started, I must ask…" Renes chuckled for a few seconds.

"How are you all so braindead? Do you not get my question? Well… Nobody has questioned how you're hearing my voice right now. Wait, do you guys never use this ability?"

Renes lifted his index finger up.

"It's simple, the colosseum is not what it seems. The actual arena is separate from the audience. You're able to see the simple projection of the arena, while we see a projection of you. This is a sort of protection for the audience; if the person is able to outright destroy the arena, you'll all be safe."

"Don't get cocky yet! This, however, does not help you against people who can manipulate the natural laws of reality! This arena is made by stitching together a few of those laws; someone like me, for example, can change this easily."

The hundred-eyed man stared at Renes with a new sense of profound fear.

A pair of glasses formed out of mid-air onto Renes's face, and he reached out into the air, grasping the invisible laws that made up the arena. After a few seconds, the glasses vanished, and Renes clapped, unnaturally, the audience heard the clap across the arena. Most of them were fearful, while some remained indifferent.

"This is a rather powerful ability… But it won't help you face the entire audience." The hundred-eyed man said as thousands of people began dropping into the arena. Some remained indifferent to the audience.

Renes laughed looking at the indifferent ones in the audience. "It seems a few of you are illiterate, haha… I'll help them get a clue."

Renes released all his power, creating a sinister aura that paralyzed every single person in the arena.

"You… You were hiding all of that power?" A few hundred-eyed men said in succession.

Renes waved his hand through the air, and the entire colosseum turned into a massive graveyard with each of the men's names imprinted on separate graves.

"A-are you a God?" The original hundred-eyed man asked.

"That's a first… It seems someone like you can not truly understand the power a God holds… I am nothing compared to the higher beings. After all, I'm only Tier 9."

Gasps could be heard throughout the graveyard, still, nobody moved an inch towards the demon who had declared them as prey.

"I have my limits… If I were to fight you all fairly, there's no doubt about it, with the limited Rift Essence we mortals hold, I would long run out of essence, especially after changing Laws, a rather taxing ability. Also, if you're curious, the glasses I summoned earlier were just a special effect. Since nobody's asking, I'll make that clear.

Right after he finished his sentence, tens of thousands of people began lighting up.

"Whoops! Almost forgot; you can leave," Renes swiped the air.

The lights dimmed, and even the lights that had long escaped had returned back to the graveyard. Renes coughed up blood after that, manipulating laws once more.

"This might be a little dangerous," Renes said, giving them hope. The mob began charging towards him at once.

'Just kidding!' Renes said instantly and locked eyes with the red-haired man with a hundred eyes.

Renes vanished from the spot, confusing all those around. When their eyes returned to the spot where he stood, there was nothing there, and the frenzy began. All of them began attacking each other mercilessly, the clones Renes had created were just bluffs—weaklings with poor abilities, but it was enough to cause chaos with all of the spearmen taking themselves out without another thought.

Renes stood still, laying against the ground. He had turned himself microscopic to vanish from the detection of the spearmen; their abilities to control eyes through the shadow would be the death of him if he hid somewhere else to recover.

Summoning the lightning storm of a dragon and spawning tens of thousands of clones that can change appearances were all abilities he had plundered from others. Even turning microscopic was one he had plundered, and each of them was extremely taxing. Especially changing Laws, a natural ability of The Hollow, was very taxing.

Time had passed quickly, and Renes had killed all of the stragglers; his graveyard was now truly a graveyard… Except he absorbed the bodies of the fallen so none of them would truly rest in the graves.

"I'll have to go into hiding for a few years after this commotion… Good thing it was in another dimension."

Lucian woke up in his bed with a calm expression. He woke up quickly after eating the dark worm and immediately left the scene, not wanting to get tangled up with the murder that wasn't even his fault. Griean University has been closed for almost a week; as a Professor, he's getting paid money because of the inconvenience. Nobody knows he visited the Director and what truly went down there.

Getting up from his bed, he slid on a few casual clothes and went to brush his teeth. After finishing up in the restroom, he went downstairs, and the moment he stepped on the last step, a few knocks echoed through the house from the front door.

This was where Lucian's journey truly began.
