David and Christine drop to the location that's been provided by the Chairman. The location is basically just a forest mountain and there are few people who, they could guess, has the same intention as them.
Both Christine and David look at each other and they immediately understand what each other mean.
The pair immediately follow behind the people. Although the two could already guess where the exact location is by sensing the area with great concentration of awaken but still, they choose to follow behind the people for blending purposes.
"What exactly do we need to know in this cult?" Christine asks.
"Hmm... I am actually not professional when it comes to investigation but I think what father wants us to do is to observe it. To know what its intention are. If we can gather information about the upper echalons then it's better. But the most important thing that we need to know is whether this cult has the ability to awaken someone or not."
Christine look at him with desbelief.
"Isn't awakening random? It's already proven by the International Monster & Hunters Research Organization right? I aslo haven't heard of an awaken, awakening someone."
David remembers the time when Archie awakens him. No, it's much better to say that Archie boosted his luck. Since awakening is a random occurance if you boosted someone's luck, then the thing that was suppose to be random will surely favor you, just like Awakening.
David doesn't have any intention of revealing the fact that there is actually way for a normal person to be awaken. But he knows that if Archie could do it, someone will be able to do it as well.
David conculed before that Archie's power is basically a combination of several magic skills and support skills from various awakens. If he perform a magic, that certain magic will certainly has exist to the others as well although as a skill.
Albeit lately David is having doubts to his conclusion to Archie's abilities because he seems to possess magic that no one has been able to perform so.
David return to himself and replied to Christine.
"We don't know it yet. The people who announce it probably hasn't seen one. Let's just hope that they are right though."
"Huh? Isn't it better if we have an awaken that can awaken a normal person?"
"No it's not, by the way, let's go to those people and ask them about the religion. Beware of what your asking or they might find us suspicious."
Christine simply nodded and follow David in his pase. When they reach close enough to the people David get their attention by speaking.
"Hello excuse me."
The group of 3 people compose of 2 female adults and 1 young man look at them.
"What is it?" Ask one of the female.
When the female ask David hasn't been given a chance to talk because Christine step up and ask the person herself.
"Sorry to disturb you. We were invited to attend and take a look at the Light Reformation Church. Are you going there as well?" Christine asks.
"Yes we are"
"Can we come along with you as well? We actually don't know the way out there."
"Oh sure, you can follow us."
The lady agreed and they continued walking in the forest.
David was quite relieve that the three people didn't notice their identity. But im reality, they can only thank their lack of exposure to the media. Unlike Ferdinand and Makoy who likes interview and appearing in media, Christine and David only appear when they really have to.
They are not as famous as Archie as well who's basically representing the Hunters and Awakens of the Philippines. Although he doesn't appear that much on TV, the records of his fights as well as his achievements not only in the country but also on the outside as well, makes his face all over the internet.
"By the way can I ask you a question? I hope that you don't mind." Christine politely ask the lady who entertained her earlier.
"Sure, what is it?"
"You see, I heard that the Church of Light Reformation can make you awaken. Did you hear anything about that? I actually came here with expectations that this church will help me awaken."
David was quite shock deep inside when Christine ask the people the most important reason why they came here. But suddenly he realize that, the way Christine deliver her question actually makes sense in a normal persons perspective. Instead of intervening to the conversation which has the possibility of making them more suspicious, David decided to let Christine handle it instead.
"The church of Light Reformation does not awaken someone. They only teach you the way to deliver your wishes to the spirits to make you awaken. We actually can here with the same purpose as you. We are hoping that at least my son here can awaken. But it seems like our faith to the spirits is not strong enough yet because they still haven't answered our wishes."
"The Spirits? Not the God?"
"Yes, the Church of Light Reformation does not follow the will of the God who wishes destruction to this world. Instead we at the Light Reformation follows the guidance of the spirits. With strong enough faith to them, awakening of your spirit will occur."
"I see, thank you for the enlightenment. However, did you witness someone who has been awaken here?"
The lady stops walking and look at Christine.
"Yes, we are very fortunate to witness it ourselves. A person who can barely walk has been awaken right in front of us. We thought that he was dying at first because he couldn't breathe but in a few seconds a miracle happened. Instead of walking properly, he became a person who can float above the ground. Only an awaken person could do such a thing."
Christine take a glance at David and David just signaled her to continue her act. Both had experience the signs of awakening before so they know that the words of the lady is not something that they could ignore.
Christine who formerly believe that no awaken can awaken a normal person has started to doubt herself. Upon hearing her words, she is starting to feel like something is diffently not right in this religion.
The lady signaled the group and they continue walking.
"Thank you for sharing it with us. I really want to become an awaken. Hopefully the Church will help me build a connection to the Spirits as well."
"The Church does not favor one over another. All people who will come here will be accepted with open arms. And about the awakening,as long as your faith is strong enough the spirits will hear your wishes and will guide your path."
Christine just nodded at her.
She was about to ask for information about the leaders of the Cult but David who could feel it, stopped her.
He doesn't want the people here to be suspicious of them. Asking so much question will guarantee unwanted suspicion at them. Christine understands David's intention so she just keep her mouth shut and walk along with the people.
After 10 minutes of walking they finally saw the huge barrier that protected the place from where they are.
"We are finally here."
As they got close, David and Christine finally saw what's inside the barrier.
The inside has several mid tier awaken helping the people such as healing them, cooking for them, serving them, and even doing hard labor to construct the unfinish church.
To the eyes of those who do not suspect them, they will finally see this as awaken doing some charity works but to those who suspects them, they are probably wondering, how on earth was this place with small number of people has quite a number of awaken?
This place makes David and Christine even more suspicious to the possibility that someone really has the power to awaken these people.
Their group line up to the entrance guarded by 2 awaken, along with some people who also came to this place. It didn't take them long before it's their turn.
The three people pass through the barrier and when its David turns the barrier prevented him from going.
"Are you new here?" The awaken guard asks.
"Yes, the two of us are new here." David said while pointing at Christine.
Christine simply nodded while preparing herself.
"I see, the barrier prevents unknown people from entering. Who are you and where do you came from? Why are strong awakened like came here?"
"To ask you why are you here."
Things escalated so fast, the awaken shot a giant fireball towards David and ran away but David just wave his sword and the flame has been extinguish.
People who lined up along with them run away from the place as well. Both David and Christine remove the illusion and reveal themselves.
"That awaken here has a lose screw in his mind. Istead of allowing us to just investigate, they really decide to show us hostility." Christine commented while preparing his bow.
"Couldn't blame them, weaker awaken instinctively fears the strong one."
David stab his sword on the ground and a cold ice travel from the ground and freezes the entire barrier. Trapping all the people inside.
While watching David do his thing, suddenly Christine feels a cold blade pressed in her neck.
"Hi..." A female voice could be heard behind her, David also heard it and he was shock to see Christine's situation.
"How?.."
