The theme of the dungeon is a cemetery, only moon light is illuminating the place and wraiths that looks like white ladies and casper notice our presence and come to us.
"Everyone they all are mid rank, they can harm us with their numbers. I need to analyze the battle field first, and come up with a suitable magic to wipe them out. Please buy me some time. "
I said in panic.
"Go on , we will try our best to hold them." Christine reply.
--Shinning light--
Christine activated her skill and rain down arrows in the battle field, unfortunately only the weaker one dies.
Her attacks does seems effective to the wraith compare to physical enhancement attacks of Ferdinand and Ice magic of David. The only reason why her attack didn't kill the others is because it's an attack that is suitable for killing Low level monster not Mid level ones.
Makoy started to imbued his sword with light magic and the combination is flame and light magic seems to be lethal to the wraiths.
Wraiths attacks are varieties of magic, they don't have cores but they seems good at manipulating mana of the surroundings.
I see, that's why only the skeletons are on the outside. These wraiths are useless outside since mana there is very thin.
The only reason why we are still manage to hold our ground is because the wraiths magic damage is not that great and everyone has armors with damage reductions on them. Added by my protection buff, they certainly can hold themselves.
I used my detection magic and look for traces of the skeletons but I couldn't detect them, but I detected five stronger beings inside. 4 of them are much stronger than they should be.
"It seems like the 4 guards of the Lich has been strengthened. I couldn't feel the army of undead, even in those graves, it seems like the Lich has certain intelligence and abandon quantity and go for quality instead." I said while manipulating the raw mana of the surroundings to make it harder for the wraiths to use magic on us.
"Can we still handle them? Or we should retreat and call for back ups? The other awakened are only in Polo Island. They can arrive here in a couple of minutes, they have several A rankers with them as well." Christine replied.
I think among everyone, she is the only one that is paying attention to me. The others are very busy chasing and killing wraiths after they notice that they can't perform magic as fast as they could before.
"The army of the Lich here is only the wraiths, it cannot call the skeletons outside to support him here. I think we can still manage, I still have my cards with me. I'll wipe them out now."
She just nodded and continue supporting the others with her skills while I prepare my wide range spell.
--Purify--
A purification light emerges and expanded in the entire place with me at the center. Purifying every wraith it touches.
Everyone stopped attacking the wraiths and look at me.
Another round of purification light has been unleased. A little more stronger than the first one, killing more wraiths.
"He's like Harry Potter using Expecto Patronum spell." Makoy murmured.
I'm pretty sure that he is a Harry Potter fan.
The last round of purification and the strongest of the three has been unleased, wiping all the remaining wraiths who could do nothing but screech at their demise.
"All done." I said and I could suddenly feel a massive spell coming towards our direction.
"Brace yourselves." I pulled everyone together at me and manipulate my mana immediately.
-- Light Barrier--
A dome of light manifested and suddenly another light magic hit the barrier and exploded.
The barrier manage to block the magic attack, if I was late even a little, someone will probably be endangered, considering how intense the explosion is.
"How can a Lich perform light magic?" Makoy said.
"It's bombarding us from a distance, we cannot proceed if he attacks us like this." David said.
"This magic reminded me yesterday. This barrier will surely be breach. Archie, let's escape." Christine said while hiding behind Ferdinand's back.
"This is a though one. Let's escape now while we still have a chance." Ferdinand readied himself to run at any moment, just like the others as well.
We are not that far from the dungeon gate actually.
Another series of explosion followed up and this time its no longer just Light magic. It's a combo magic of Light and fire creating a power that really burns the barriers but I controlled the barrier and added water effects in it to minimize the damage.
"Good thing I already made you experience such things. From night battle to bombardment magics. It's actually the right decision to escape but and only BUT, if it is only you guys. However, you have me here. The strongest magic user in this country. In a magic showdown, I refuse to be defeated."
I tapped my magic staff in the ground and suddenly the barrier expanded.
I levitated of the ground and gather my mana in the sky..
"It's my turn you Lich."
--Total Destruction --
Suddenly magic circles form at the sky and all of them are lock in a place where the bombardment came from.
I activated the magic and dark energy shoots out from the magic circles.
The are locked with the lich and death knights mana signatures. Suddenly, we could feel the air vibrating and a huge explosions that is 3x more destructive than last night could be seen from our distance.
The Lich, abandoned offense and put everything to defense.
"The explosion seems to be more powerful than what he had shown us last night. He's holding up last night." David commented.
"Seems like it to me. Will this be enough to kill the Lich?" Christine said and suddenly the ground beneath them opened up revealing 4 death knights.
How the hell did they come there? I could feel their mana in the direction that I am shooting.
"The death knights are here. How did they manage to come here when there is a barrier?" David reacted and everyone fought a death knight.
Shit! I forgot that as long as the barrier doesn't have space lock spell, enemies will still be able to teleport inside.
As expected of a peak S- rank Lich. He is capable of casting teleportation spell while protecting himself.
The Lich is without a doubt capable of fighting someone who's higher rank than him.
I cancelled the barrier but I still continue the bombardment.
"Change strategy, David handle 2 dead knight and protect Christine. She's having a hard time at her opponent. And you Christine, assist David."
"Oh thank you for saying that." Christine replied and David use his Ice magic to create a clone of him that fought the other death knight.
It's weak and it died immediately but it give Christine enough space to breath and use her skills at a distance to support David and everyone.
I immediately manipulated my mana and channel it to my staff.
--Space Lock--
I activated the spell that prevents anyone from using teleportation spells in the entire battle field. Including me, but I'll take it as a good thing for us since in this fight, we are not the one at disadvantage.
"Archie, they become stronger. Something is wrong here." Makoy shouted.
I look at them and I could see that the strength of mana that I felt earlier is manifesting at them. It seems like the Lich is trying to trick us. I am probably attacking only attacking a decoy right now. But it doesn't seems so, I don't know. I'm confuse.
They are now barely defending themselves because of the sudden increase in power of the other side and I'm starting to get worried at their safety.
"You will probably need to rest for three days after I use this spell." I said and give them my help.
--Limit Break--
Everyone's power increase by 50% using this spell. And I could feel now that with this much power, they will surely be able to overturn the tide of the battle.
"Thanks for the power up, it's really a great help." Makoy said and continue his fight.
I cancelled my bombardment magic and activated a magic that allows me to see far ahead.
There is still a smoke and dust that is yet to settle in the area where the Lich is suppose to be and when the dust settled, I saw him inside a barrier that has been maintained by the magic obelisk controlled by him and powered up by the mana stones that is inside the magic circle.
I could also see 4 color orange crystals that are floating around him where I detected the presence of the 4 death knights.
It seems like he stored their mana there earlier to confuse me and release it when he feels like they needed their powers back.
The Lich did really prepare for us. The magic obelisk the he controls alone is proof of that. A mage that is in his magic fortress is the hardest to deal with.
If I didn't come here and visit him before, he probably won't prepare something like this and we probably could take him down with ease.
I shouldn't have underestimated him.
