Chapter 9 - Vampire king's entry

Rumors swirled throughout the vicinity, whispers carried on every breeze, for it was said that following in the footsteps of Andrew Charles Vygotski, the illustrious Vampire King of the vampire realm, another formidable presence was set to grace the upcoming fest – none other than the enigmatic Vampire King himself, accompanied by his retinue of bewitching concubines.

He was a notorious womaniser. It was a well-known fact. It was also known to the people that he was a tyrant who misused his power for his gain. He is said to be the worst king till date in vampire history. But still, he was a respectable guest of the human kingdom, as the vampire kingdom has a lot of power. So the emperor and the empress welcomed the vampire king themselves and gave him the best guest chamber present in the palace. In the meantime, Vampire King was in contact with Knife. Knife is his subordinate and he listens to everything the king says.

Andrew Charles Vygotski had a short temper and was creating trouble in the palace the moment he placed his foot in the palace. He was a difficult man to please, and this gave a headache to the emperor. He thought, "Why is he making trouble for no reason? Does he want to spoil the fest? Or does he have ulterior motives? Everything was weird to begin with. His every move was suspicious."

For a safer side, the emperor made a knight follow him in secret and take note of every move he makes and inform him as soon as he finds something or someone suspicious.

Due to Andrew Charles Vygotski, the empress was very busy catering to his needs. He had a different demand every few seconds, and this made the empress feel worn out.

In the evening, Andrew Charles Vygotski met Princess Mitchell, and as he recalled the prophecy, he thought that maybe she could be the key, as the time of the prophecy and her birth match. So, he took Princess Mitchell on a stroll and then led her to his chamber. He squatted down and talked to her, trying to see any marks on her neck, but there were none. He thought that the mark might be concealed, so he threw Mitchell in the bathtub rashly, seeing if it appeared when it came in contact with water. But still, nothing happened.

So he held her by the leg and hung her in mid-air. Mitchell was frightened at this point. She was never treated this way in her life, and she was the one who always tortured others.

But this man did not care who she was and what she could do to him later. It indicated that he had a lot of power, and she could not do anything to him. The man slapped her a few times, thinking that pain might make the key appear, but still, nothing happened. He shook her in mid-air, threw her on the bed, then dipped her in water, but still, nothing happened.

"Good, very good. You are very good at concealing it at such a young age. You are as cunning as humans can be, but you are a step ahead of normal humans, as you are their princess and they are your subjects. But this does not end here. I will get to the bottom of it, and I will definitely destroy you. Well, we have many opportunities to meet each other. It was a pleasure meeting you, princess. Now get lost. Oh, and remember, don't tell anyone about this. If you do, I will kill you. Ha ha ha," said Andrew Charles Vygotski.

Mitchell left the chamber dripping wet and frightened. This is the first time she felt fear. She could not forget those big bloody red eyes in her life. She was scared to death, but she did not tell anyone as she remembered the threat that man said.

The secret guard saw everything but did not tell the emperor, as he did not want to distract the emperor from important matters, and he did not like the princess personally, so he turned a blind eye to her.

Mitchell was crying nonstop in her room. She sent all her maids away and took a bath on her own for the first time. She was crying again, but she could do nothing. This made her feel how her victims felt until now.

She got angry and splashed water everywhere. She took a long bath, which made her run a high fever at night.

Windy Brown, the loyal maid of Princess Mitchell, came to check on her before she left for the servants' quarter.

As she stepped into the room, she felt heavy breathing. She went to the bedside to see that Mitchell's face was red, and as she touched her forehead, she felt her hand burn. Mitchell was running a fever. But it was so late that the Royal doctor had left the palace. Windy Brown panicked. She then took cold water, dipped a clean cloth in it, and placed it on Mitchell's forehead. She repeated this process throughout the night. She had never cared for Clara like this ever. She would tell Clara that these kinds of small diseases would make her strong and she did not need any medicine or care about her.

Clara was sleepwalking and came to Mitchell's room unconsciously. She then rubbed her eyes and saw her mother nursing Mitchell. Once again, Clara was brokenhearted. Her mother cared for Mitchell and not her. Clara then left quietly as tears fell down her cheeks. She felt a sharp pain in her heart, but she could do nothing. The love she longed for was being given to someone else in front of her. She went to Miss Lilian's room and sobbed herself to sleep.

The next morning, Princess Mitchell's fever was almost gone. Windy Brown told the empress about her fever, and then the Royal doctor came to check on her. He prescribed her some medicines and then left. All the envoys came to see the sick princess and told her to get well soon. Andrew Charles Vygotski also came and gave his heartfelt apology and made a promise with the princess to get well soon.

Mitchell flinched, but she did not do anything and kept her mouth shut. He then left with the other envoys, but before he left, he turned his face and looked into Mitchell's eyes and grinned. Mitchell got frightened and hid under the blanket. She asked Windy Brown to accompany her and made all the other maids leave the room.

The Emperor and Empress were worried about her, but other urgent matters could not be stopped. Their loyal maid was there to look after her, so they did not have to worry about her. They came to see her as soon as they were free. They even cancelled the lunch with the envoys and had their lunch with their dear daughter, Mitchell. Mitchell was pleased by the amount of attention and care she received from everyone. She was even given a lot of gifts by her parents and envoys. There were rare herbs presented to her for improving her health. She thought that falling sick was not bad. She should pretend to be sick in the future if things get a little hard for her. She could escape punishment if she pretended to be sick. Everything would go according to her plan, and she would be pampered even more.
