Kira sighed and glanced at the mumbling Alex and the fuming Lilly.
She seemed to have done something to cause a misunderstanding between the two friends.
But she wondered how the girl named Lilly found out about her. Kira was a member of a new race that hadn't exposed itself to the public or even the other supernatural races. And Kira had never been involved in crimes that would put her on the radar of SBC.
She was about to commit a crime but she met Alex whose blood managed to free her of Ken's control and prevented her from doing anything that she might have regretted later on.
However Lilly may have found out about her, but it wasn't important at the moment. She first had to solve the situation in front of her first and to do that she would have to tell them something substantial. She would have to explain what she was and why she was here. Otherwise, Lilly wouldn't leave her alone.
"I'll explain. "She said as she stepped between Alex and Lilly. Alex stared at her with a confused face while Lilly's eyes nearly spit flames at Kira. Kira could even hear Lilly's heavy breathing but that was probably because she was a Sanguine.
"I am a Sanguine. " Kira revealed her secret and almost immediately regretted it but there was nothing she could do now.
Lilly's eyes widened as she took a step back and took out a blade. Her face was a cautious one but there was a hint of fear too on Lilly's face. "It can't be. "Lilly's voice quivered.
But Kira ignored her as she wasn't much of a threat to her.
Alex's face too changed and an astounded expression appeared on his face like he knew what Kira was talking about. But the problem was Alex shouldn't be knowing what she was talking about. It was suspicious.
Kira's eyes narrowed as she asked, "Why are you surprised? Do you know something about Sanguine?"
At that moment, Alex realized he had messed up by not controlling his face. He wanted to smack himself in the face. He tried to cover it up, "Oh Nothing. I just read about it in one of my father's books. " But the excuse he managed to create on the fly did achieve the opposite effect.
"How did your father know about Sanguine? "Kira asked another question causing Alex to consider smacking himself in the face.
But Alex shook his head as he could feel his head swelling. There was no way of coming out unscathed from this interrogation. He was cornered.
"We all seemed to have some secrets. So... Why don't we just keep it to ourselves? "Alex futilely attempted to diffuse the situation and get himself out of it.
"Well, I'm ready to tell you my secret and you will tell me yours. "Lilly said. She didn't care her identity as an SBC agent would be exposed at this point. She just wanted to know what was going on with Alex and Kira.
Kira hesitated at first but then a memory flashed through her mind, her brother laying in his own pool of blood and her mother's desperate cries as Ken's men killed her right in front of her.
She needed revenge and the only way she was going to get it was by making allies and the best ally she could think of was SBC, the nemesis of the supernaturals.
Kira made her decision. She couldn't hide forever. She had to face her enemies and try to take revenge for her family or die trying.
"Okay. I'm in too. How about you Alex? "Kira nodded with determination and turned to Alex.
Alex glanced at both Lilly and Kira one by one with a thoughtful expression.
