The elders became fearful. They had thought at first that by showing their domineering power to Lord Magnus, he would learn to submit to the authority of the Church. After all, they cannot have a Lord who doesn't fear the power of the Church, it would tilt the balance and they couldn't have it. But what they didn't expect was Magnus's lack of fear to their said authority.
In front of his eyes, they all appeared like a whining child.
"Lord Magnus!" Warned the ninth Elder. "You have to know that us the Church could strip you off your title if we wish to!"
Sir Decimus's eyes widened. Now they were starting the fire and it wasn't something he had planned. He wanted to have Magnus say something borderline dangerous which they could use to threaten him and have him work for them. But now it's doing the opposite as Magnus remained calm without a hint of fury.
