The hateful glare from Caroline said enough of the hatred and humiliation she felt that her father had slapped her in front of Elle, as if showing that the love he has for her is so much lesser compared to the love he had for Elle. The girl didn't want to feel more humiliation and ran away from her room, knowing best that her only ally was her mother.
Seeing how Carol had ran, Count Arthur angrily turned his body to the door as if he planned to catch Carol and demand her to apologize just as he had told Tieran to do before. But seeing this, Elle raised her voice, "Can we talk, Count Arthur?"
