By the time the carriage arrived back at the Vernon Manor, Count Arthur woke Elle from her nap. She opened her eyes and the daze she had quickly morph into anxiety as she knows the person she would meet now is also the woman who had also tried to kill her a few hours ago.
Such rooted hatred on Lady Gladys's heart— to the point that she wanted her dead— no matter how courageous Elle was, she felt rather daunted to see Lady Gladys in flesh. The only thought that pushed her to be braver was the thought that as long as she was surrounded with many people, Lady Gladys won't try to hurt her.
Elle held her hands together while Count Arthur offered help for her to walk down the carriage which she accepts as her ankle still ache from the pain.
