"I'd be happy to. I have every intention to keep myself at the best of my abilities."
Leech smiles, "Good, I'll be sure to let Karma know and have her take you to these administered tests on site. Do you have any questions?"
Ember sighed, standing as he stuffed his hands into the brown pants he had on.
"Yes, how long should I expect to be taking these tests?"
"Just for the month, we want to make sure your mind can handle the pressure and that you know how to do so. Don't worry, I doubt this'll affect your place here with us. On that note, I want to congratulate you as well, welcome to the Noir City Aviators." The man gave a crooked smile, holding out his hand.
Ember stood, reaching out and shaking it, a smile of his own appearing in response to those affirming words.
"Thank you sir, I'll make sure to not disappoint."
"I know you wont. Your father never did. Have a great evening, pilot Chain."
Ember felt his chest grow heavy hearing Leech say that, catching the ashy haired pilot off guard. He gave a hesitant nod before turning on his heel and strolling out the door.
Ember pressed his back against the door once it closed behind him, shutting his eyes and releasing a long exhale. He then stared at the ground, taking another moment to collect himself.
"Shit..." He whispered, running his fingers through his now shoulder length hair. He eventually pushed himself forward, strolling back to his locker, meanwhile idly tying his hair into a bun, still allowing his bangs to fall across his brows. The pilot then once again opened his locker, this time pulling out his fathers jacket and a large watch, which he put on his empty gloved wrist. Ember pulled the suspenders connected to the waist of his pants, pulling them over his shoulders before slipping on the brown bomber jacket.
"Tindel, turn on"
The watch came to life, its green hue of life emitting a squared hologram that was now eye level with Ember. One of his eyes reflected the same lively hue, a line scanning through his iris to make sure the one using the watch was indeed Ember.
"Greetings Ember Chain, proceed as you wish."
The pilot grinned, lifting his remaining gloved hand to toy with the watch's display. His finger tapped the messages section of the holographic presentation, a small microchip on Ember's finger tip lightly glimmering in response to the contact.
He saw Enzo's message at the very top, wasting no time in tapping the bubble of text for it's contents.
"Still down for tonight, handsome?" The watch known as Tindel read aloud for the pilot, perfectly emulating Enzo's voice.
Ember smirked at the reminder, still holding his wrist up and using his free hand to reach in and pull out a baker boys cap alongside rounded lens steampunk glasses. Both were brown, but the lenses of Ember's glasses provided a sunset like hue that shifted depending on what was reflected.
He placed the cap atop his wavy locks before resting the glasses on the bridge of his nose.
"Tell Enzo, 'I'm on my way now'"
Ember wasted no time getting himself back to landing strip extending out from the many pilot's garages, spotting Enzo and two others already sitting on the hoods of their individual airplanes. All of the crafts pointed towards one another so the three could've conversated while they waited on their comrade. Enzo slid down from his pointed hood, the foresty green paint looking darker now that the sun had set.
"Hey Firecracker! You made it!" Enzo smirked, strolling over to Ember before pulling the pilot into a tight hug, lifting the smaller man up as he did so.
Ember winced, a faulty chuckle escaping his lips as he hugged Enzo back, resting his chin on the others shoulder. He glanced over at the two men still planted on their planes, noticing their skeptical gazes.
"I wouldn't wanna miss this..." Ember muttered back softly as Enzo placed him down. Enzo's hands planted themselves on Ember's shoulders, a gentle smirk on the taller pilot's lips.
"That's what I like to hear. Come on, I'll break down the rules and conditions for the night."
Enzo took his hands off Ember, one hand instead grabbing his friend's, intertwining their fingers. He guided Ember to the two men, a light in Enzo's eyes as he approached. The two others still skimmed their eyes over the smaller pilot, one crossing his arms.
"How do we know the shrimp isn't going to snitch?" One asked, his red eyes narrowing.
Enzo laughed whole heartedly, releasing Ember to pat his shoulder.
"Ember has never revealed a secret in his entire life, trust me."
Ember smirked at this, then sticking out his tongue to tease the interrogative man.
"It's true, I just talked to captain actually. He doesn't suspect a thing."
"How'd that go, by the way?" Enzo asked, turning curiously to his co-worker.
Ember's shit eating grin subsided, looking away as he scratched his cheek.
"Well... hm..." He contemplated a moment.
"He wants me to do some kind of psych eval... I don't know, but he seemed happy to have me still."
Enzo's grin grew toothy, wrapping an arm around Ember's neck as he ruffled the man's hair.
"Oh come on, everyone is impressed by you. I mean, look at Hornet!" He gestured to the emerald eyed boy's garage, where Ember's plane resided.
The red eyed pilot still planted on his plane furrowed his brows, eventually hopping off his craft. The man was slender in size, standing between the two's height. He had dense, curly white hair. A unique trait created due to his albinism.
"Can you stop cuddling the fresh meat and get started already?" The snowy haired man grumbled.
Enzo glanced at him, his excited demeanor fading.
"God Theodore, no need to be a buzzkill... Fine, Ember, go to your garage and get your new plane out here."
Ember frowned, exchanging a staredown with Theodore. He could see the annoyance Theodore felt due to his presence, making him wonder why the man decided to join them tonight. Ember glanced over to his garage, hesitating before he made his way towards the building.
