Chapter 1 - Egressing From Troubles Isn't So Bad

The city of Zaira wasn't the best place to raise a child. That is, if you wanted them to have etiquettes and mannerisms. Thankfully, Allana managed to save herself from this madness. Partially, at the very least.

She loved when all eyes were on her-- It reminded her that she existed, not to mention the attention was exhilarating.

However, her idea of attention wasn't exactly a good one. She was the 'witch' around these parts for a reason. She'd cause a ruckus which would attract the attention of other citizens and cause them to be on her tail at all times (whether it be literally or figuratively).

And that was exactly what was happening. She was running as fast as she could, giggling as if she was hysterical all the while.

Allana was a tall and beautiful blonde girl. Her blue eyes were so similar to the beach, they could remind anyone of visiting a beach on a starry night. She was also a fair coloured young child.

The thing with her was that she couldn't care less if she had hurt their feelings in the process, for she knew they didn't, either. Everyone was so mundane and dead inside, it upset her. Unfortunately, that was how it had been for generations.

Allana refused to be like the rest of them. She'd rather have people call her names and spew out hurtful comments at her rather than not be different. What was so wrong with being unique, she would never understand.

The sun-kissed sky today was beautiful. It was a shame that it had to go with this wretched city. As Allana sprinted, the warm sunshine beat down on her skin and her footsteps faded into a light beat, like one of a drum.

Allana snapped out of her trance when she realized that she was getting nowhere. She swiftly turned to her right and took off running to her house.

Her demeanor instantly shifted into one of seriousness once she entered. She didn't bother taking a glance at her parents as she made her way to her room. If anyone would listen to her tragic tale, they wouldn't believe that a girl as outgoing as her had family issues and suffered through loneliness.

They wouldn't believe that she had no reason to live, either.

The only hobby that brought Allana pure joy was writing. What better way was there to convey one's thoughts? And what better than to write a tale that would help others cope with their own problems?

Writing was Allana's coping mechanism, along with reading and drawing (rarely the latter). She jumped for joy every time she read a heartwarming comment congratulating her for making it this far.

She had no money, and her parents wouldn't even bother giving her some, which is why she opted for publishing her work online. It had been two years since she started this career of sorts. Needless to say, she had no regrets. And her enthusiasm reached new levels when she finished a fantasy story she was proud of.

The female lead, Allegra, had to embark on a journey that would forever change her life and those around her. She was initially going to take revenge against those who wronged her, but chose peace in the end. A fitting ending, if Allana said so herself.

This song and dance was what truly made Allana's day. And it would only last until her mother barged into her room, demanding her to get off that screen and go outside.

Of course, that was when she toyed with her neighbors and many others. They did deserve it, after all. It wasn't as if they had good intentions, all of them. Allana could bet that they had no idea she was neglected by her parents from an early age.

And she didn't care if they did know. It wasn't like it did her any good.

Allana scrolled through her book, enjoying every moment of the climax. The more she read it, the more she realized how much she wished these creations were real. She really should have been more careful with her wishes.

Because the next thing she knew, there was a girl her age staring at her with an alert expression before calming down and smiling.

Allana blinked, bewildered. She really expected her to put up a fight, because she didn't know where she was, and that should have been enough to apprise her that she wasn't safe.

That was, until she took a closer look.

She was a short brunette with eyes indistinguishable from a chocolate bar (speaking of which, Alanna craved some). She was tanned and well-groomed, exactly what you would expect of the female lead.

Wait.

This was Allegra, from the book she wrote. She was alive, breathing and smiling at Allana.

This day was full of surprises, wasn't it?
