"Today was annoying," Brenda huffed. Normally she's able to shake off her encounters with Alfredo but today, her blood was still boiling from what had transpired especially when she remembered the bus ordeal.
"Uh-oh, should I even bother to ask?" Tamara said. She laughs and picks a piece of lettuce and a tomato with her fork.
"It's probably better if you don't. Plus, I don't really want to spend time talking about Alfredo." Brenda ranted on.
" Okay, what happened? You're boiling up." Tamara said.
"That motherfucker hit my ass!" Brenda said, whispering as if she didn't want passersby to hear.
Tamara fell into bouts of laughter. She couldn't control it. She even had tears coming from her eyes.
"This is not funny, Tee!"
"It is! Your cheeks are red." Tamara said, still laughing.
"I hate you." Brenda said as she picked up a chip and threw it at Tamara.
Just then Franklin walked past their table. He sits down on the table across from them and Tamara couldn't help side-ogling him. She has a huge crush on the basketball player who happened to be Alfredo's roommate.
Franklin's gaze met Brenda and he gave her a chin lift in greeting and she rolled her eyes at him. She really hated all of them.
"I really don't see what you see in that guy Franklin," Brenda said. "He looks like a tree trunk."
Tamara choked on a laugh, and the edges of Franklin's lips curved into a smirk as if he heard what Brenda said.
Tamara cleared her throat after sipping her drink. "About this night…"
The shift in topic made Brenda glance expectantly at Tamara, waiting for her to finish her statement. When she didn't continue, Brenda asked, "What? What's going on tonight?" "My current plans include binge- watching Netflix, and ordering a large pizza with extra cheese. Other than that, I got nothing." she added.
"Well…" Tamara's voice trailed off, and she glanced at Franklin.
"Just spit it out," Brenda said.
"The basketball players are having a huge party tonight, and I want you to go with me." Tamara said almost in a hurry.
"Nooooooo," Brenda groaned and slumped on the bench.
She'd heard in class that there was going to be a massive party at the basketball captain's house, who happens to be Al-freaking-fredo. It was the talk of the day and it just made sense that Tamara wanted to go owing to her crush on Franklin.
"Yeeeeeeees," Tamara responds.
"Come on, Tee," Brenda whined.
"Please, don't make me go. You know how much I hate those things." she added pathetically.
Brenda had been to her fair share of parties over the past two years. But basketball parties are usually very rough on their own. She'd been to one when she was still dating Victor. It's usually debauchery at its finest, where girls get to come half naked and the guys ready to stick their dicks in every available pussy.
"I know, sweetie. I totally get it, I do. But…"
"Then don't make me go," Brenda cut in.
"But I need you," Tamara said. Her voice gentled as if she's trying to reason with a child about to throw a tantrum.
"You're my best friend and I need you there with me. You know how those girls can be." Tamara continued trying to convince Brenda by giving her the puppy eyes— her manipulative technique over Brenda.
"I need my wingman by my side when I walk through that door," Tamara added after another bite of salad.
"It's a wing woman, Tee. I'm a lady." Brenda said.
"Fine," she agreed easily. "I need my wing woman next to me when I walk through that door."
It was fun seeing Tamara accept corrections so easily.
"Okay," Brenda finally said. "I'll go with you. Just don't give me puppy eyes again. I can't stand it."
"I know you bestie," Tamara said, smirking.
Brenda threw a chip at her and said, "You're a manipulative brat, and I hate you."
Tamara laughed, dodging the potato. "You love me baby, and I love you too!"
*****
"I can't believe I let you talk me into this," Brenda yelled at Tamara as they stepped into the house. It's only nine o'clock, but the place was already packed with people.
As soon as they walked into the house, they were greeted by the sound of upbeat music and the sight of students dancing and mingling with each other. The atmosphere was electric, and they couldn't help but feel a rush of excitement as they made their way further into the crowd.
From the decorations to the lighting, everything was perfect. The neon lights were used to create a colorful and vibrant environment, while the disco balls added a touch of glamour and sophistication to the party. The DJ played a mix of popular songs and classic hits, keeping the guests on their feet all night long. However, the dance floor was surrounded by tables and chairs for those who wanted to take a break from dancing.
The atmosphere was electric. The house was transformed into an amazing party venue with decorations that gave the room a festive and exciting atmosphere.
Everyone was excited to be there, and the energy in the room was contagious. The music was loud and upbeat, and everyone was dancing and having a great time.
The parties organised by the basketball team are usually highly anticipated. The parties involve various activities such as music, dance, games, food, sex, and alcohol. The parties provide a relaxed and festive atmosphere where students can let loose and have fun.
Brenda thought that the best thing tonight is that everyone appears to be wearing clothes. During the last basketball party she attended, there were games of strip beer pong going on.
They looked around trying to find someone they knew. The hall was quite dark save for the neon lights. They squint their eyes and looked around once more. That was when they saw the bar.
Several bars had been set up at different corners of the hall where guests could relax and socialize with their friends. The bartenders served a variety of drinks, including signature cocktails and mocktails, to keep the party going strong.
The party was a perfect opportunity to meet new people and make new friends. The room was filled with laughter and excitement, and it was clear that everyone was having a great time— except for Brenda. Tamara looped her arm through Brenda's making sure she doesn't turn back and leave. Music blasted from the speakers, making the walls vibrate. It's so loud that they could barely hear themselves as they made their way towards the bar.
