Chapter 66 - "Confession"

"Would you just sit there and watch knowing that the person you cherish has been taken for granted by his own relatives?" I questioned further, keeping my gaze fixed on him as he began to panic, unsure of how to respond.

I know he only said that it was none of my business, likely to protect me from getting involved with his relatives, but it pained me to see him shouldering all the blame without fighting back or standing up for himself.

"Would you be able to sleep peacefully, Xyriel?" I questioned again.

"P-please, you're too close, Z-zinnia," he stammered, still avoiding eye contact.

"Answer me honestly, Xyriel," I pressed further, refusing to move away.

"I-I'll answer, b-but please. Can you s-step away first," Xyriel stammered.

"I'll step away, but only after you answer me first."

"I know you only wish to help me, Zinnia, but I don't want to burden you, especially knowing how busy you've been," he replied.
