Chapter 100 - "A warning"

Positioned before Theo's door, I inhaled deeply before initiating a knock.

"Come in," Theo's voice resonated from within.

The room greeted me with an unusual darkness, illuminated only by a single lantern. Taking a seat on the couch opposite him, I observed as he poured a bottle of whiskey, a gesture I hesitated to acknowledge.

He offered a smile along with the drink, yet I refrained from making a move, fixing my gaze on the untouched glass. With a discerning glare, I questioned, "What exactly is your intention here, Theo?"

He chuckled in response, "Why so skeptical? I simply wish to express my gratitude and engage in a conversation with you, Zinnia." Another smile adorned his face.

I scoffed at his words, retorting, "Oh please, let us not pretend we harbor any fondness for each other, Theo."
